Kings XI Punjab have made a good start to their innings against Gujarat Lions (GL). Their openers Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra have gotten the team off to a good start and will look to add more runs in the coming overs. They have batted sensibly so far and will now have to set up a good platform to ensure that their middle-order, which consists of Glenn Maxwell, David Miller and other hard-hitters. Opening bowlers Praveen Kumar and Pradeep Sangwan have failed to contain. Vijay has been the one, who has been in an attacking mood. Vohra on the other hand is just happy to give the strike back to Vijay. Live Scorecard: Kings XI Punjab vs Gujarat Lions, IPL 2016, Match 3 at Mohali
Both teams are playing their first match of the tournament. For Lions this is their first-ever match in IPL history. KXIP suffered a major setback when they found out that Shaun Marsh was unavailable for this match as he has been admitted to the hospital due to food poisoning. Lions also brought on leggie Sarabjit Ladda, but he too could not trouble the batsmen. Even James Faulkner could not do much. Earlier, Suresh Raina had won the toss and elected to bowl first. This will be the first time we will see Brendon McCullum in action since he announced his retirement from international cricket. Aaron Finch, James Faulkner and Dwayne Bravo are the other three foreign players in the team.
Lions need to pick up a wicket or two else they will be chasing over 160, which on this ground will be a lot of runs to chase down.
