Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will clash for Match No. 10 of IPL 2016 to be held at Mohali. In the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2016, Mohali has produced some high scoring games. RPS so far have been consistent and are proving to be a balanced unit, who will want to bounce back after their defeat to the Gujarat Lions. KXIP are still searching for their first victory this season. They were at the bottom of the table in last edition and would definitely hope not to face similar scenario this time around and with RPS coming into this surely, they hold an upper hand against the struggling KXIP. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Kings XI Punjab vs Rising Pune Supergiants, IPL 2016, Match 10 at Mohali
A closer look into the RPS side and it can be said that they seem to be flawless but still managed to lose their match handing GL their second successive win. The batting order did their part adding 163 on score board despite regular fall of wickets, more so after the fall of Faf du Plessis, who made 69 from 43 balls. Steven Smith and Mitchell Marsh were unable to stay longer on the crease to provide support to skipper Dhoni. A few more runs could have made the difference for RPS. On the other hand, the bowling department were unable to live up to expectations and break the partnership between Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch. Ishant Sharma and Mitchell Marsh who were the driving force for their victory against Mumbai Indians, proved to be too expensive. Even Murugan Ashwin proved to be expensive and was unable to control the flow of runs. RPS will want to work on all these factors in order to achieve their second win.
KXIP so far have easily failed to live up to their full potential and have been unimpressive with their performance in every aspect. In the first game, Shaun Marsh’s absence was hurting for the batting order, had it not been for Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra who contributed for them, whereas the bowling department failed miserably with experienced pacer like Mitchell Johnson and Pardeep Sahu conceding way too many runs. In their last match against Delhi Daredevils, it was only Vohra who stood tall for them. Shaun, playing his first match was out for mere 13 runs. Once again the bowlers were not at their best adding to the plight of KXIP defeat.
KXIP will want to change the tide around and open their IPL campaign successfully against RPS, where as Dhoni and co. will look to play more consistently with the ball to gain their second win.
