Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) suffered a late batting collapse to lose their high-scoring Indian Premier League clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by a mere four runs here on Tuesday at their home turf

Chasing a massive target of 239, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) began their innings on a promising note, reaching 149 for 2 in just 12 overs. However, what looked like a well-paced chase quickly unraveled, as they lost momentum and wickets at crucial intervals, eventually finishing at 234 for 7 in 20 overs, just four runs short of the target.

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane led from the front, anchoring the innings with an impressive knock of 61 off just 35 deliveries. His innings included eight boundaries and two sixes, providing KKR with a solid start. Venkatesh Iyer also contributed valuable 45 runs, playing a supporting role during the middle overs.

As the required run rate increased, Rinku Singh once again stepped up with his trademark shots. He smashed a blistering 38 off just 15 balls, reviving KKR’s hopes in the final overs. Despite his effort, he wasn’t able to chase down the target.

Earlier in the match, Lucknow Super Giants posted a massive total of 238 for 3, thanks to stellar performances from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh. Pooran remained unbeaten on 87, showcasing his power-hitting prowess, while Marsh contributed a commanding 81 runs. The duo’s explosive partnership laid the foundation for what turned out to be a match-winning total.

In the end, it was Lucknow’s big-hitting and disciplined death bowling that sealed the victory in a high-scoring thriller.
