A disappointing performance against Bangladesh in Chennai where he could only manage to score 23 runs, saw star batter Virat Kohli drop down from 7th to 12th in the latest ICC Test batter rankings. He will definitely be looking to improve his form in the second and final Test of the series against Bangladesh which will take place in Kanpur.
On the other hand, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made a terrific return to Test cricket and scored a fabulous century to massively help the Men in Blue in setting up a humongous target of 515 for Bangladesh. This great performance saw him re-enter the top ten at the sixth spot with 726 points.
A half-century from Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first innings against Bangladesh saw him move just above Pant, at the fifth spot with 751 rating points. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma dropped down to the tenth place after a disappointing performance in both the innings of the Test. A classy century from Shubman Gill saw him move up to the 14th spot.
On the other hand, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah stayed on the second spot among the bowlers after taking a 4-wicket haul against Bangladesh in their first innings. He has 854 rating points, just a few points shy of veteran Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin who picked up a 6-wicket haul in the final innings against Bangladesh and remained as the top bowler in red-ball cricket with 871 points.
