Allrounder Krishnappa Gowtham had a day to remember in the Karnataka Premier League on Saturday, putting in the best ever allround display in a T20 game ever as he single-handedly dismantled Shivamogga Lions in Match 15 of the KPL 2019 at Bengaluru on Saturday.
The 30-year-old, prompted by the order for Bellary Tuskers hammered 134 not out off just 54 balls en route to the fastest century in KPL in just 39 with the help of seven four and 13 sixes. Bellary posted a strong 203/3 in 17 overs after reain delay had trimmed the match to 17 overs a side contest.
Chasing the target, Shivamogga succumbed to Gowtham’s off-spin as he claimed a record 8/15 in his four overs and were bundled out for 133 in 16.3 overs, losing the match by 70 runs (VJD Method).

However, Gowtham’s insane efforts will not be counted towards official T20 statistics or records as state T20 leagues are not given official T20 status. The matches are categorised at Other T20. Unofficially though Gowtham’s 8/15 is the best-ever T20 figure, bettering South African allrounder Colin Ackermann’s 7/18 for Leicestershire Foxes against Birmingham Bears in the 2019 Vitality T20 Blast earlier in the month.
Gowtham, a regular face in India A, finds his name as the player with the highest individual score in the KPL, player with most sixes an a single KPL innings and player with the best bowling figures in the league.
