Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) opened a new cricket academy at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium premises on Monday to nurture the young talent of the state at the grassroots level.

Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) opened a new cricket academy at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium premises on Monday to nurture the young talent of the state at the grassroots level.
According to Cricketnext, the academy is opened in six second-tier cities – Mysore, Mangalore, Shimoga, Tumkur and Hubli.
Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda inaugurated the academy.
Gowda expressed happiness at the opening of the state-of-art academy.
“At one point, players from Karnataka made up half of the Indian team. I’m happy that Kumble, Srinath and others have now joined hands to help us return to the glory days. You can see it’s not just talk – they have actually implemented all this technology. I hope with this the academy will deliver good results,” he said.
“I have been told that they are going to take this training to second tier cities as well. I have told them that the government will give them any support they need. They’ve placed a few requests with us, that they need 50 acres of land in Chikballapur etc. We’ll help them as best we can,” he added.
Former Indian players such as Gundappa Viswanath, Roger Binny, Javagal Srinath and Anil Kumble were also present in the event.
Vishwanath is the chairman of the new academy which is supported by UB Group.Srinath and Kumble are the secretary and president respectively of KSCA while Binny is one of the vice-presidents of the association. The KSCA also introduced the Cognitive Video-Based Coaching System, a cricket coaching technology.
“Until now, there has been an over-emphasis on representation. We want to change that. We want players to be patient and understand that it’s about enhancing their skills first. Technology is not intimidating here. It is not dictating terms. It is only making learning easy and simple,” Srinath said while explaining the objective of the academy.
The academy has 420 cricketers, belonging to the age group of 14 to 19 years, from over Karnataka.
