Kumar Sangakkara’s Twitter account hacked, tweets obscene picture

Kumar Sangakkara was in the middle of a county game when the incident occurred.

Legendary Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara, who just retired from Tests following the conclusion of the second match against India at P Sara Oval, Colombo, faced an embarrassing situation on Wednesday when his official Twitter account got hacked. The incident came to be known after an obscene picture was posted by his Twitter account and which was spotted by his followers around the world. Sangakkara was quick enough to delete the tweet and issue an apology with a fresh tweet and also stated that he was in the middle of a county game. Sangakkara has played 134 Tests, 405 ODIs and 56 T20Is. He has scored 12,400 Tests runs, 14234 ODI runs and 1382 runs. His highest score in Tests is 319. He finished his Test career with a batting average of 57.40. Sangakkara went on to score 38 hundreds and 52 half-centuries in his Test career. He retired from ODIs post ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Sangakkara led the team to ICC World Cup 2011 final, where the team lost to India.

The cricketing fraternity showered praise on Sangakkara after he bid a tearful adieu to his international career. A fairytale ending alluded, Sangakkara in his swansong after Sri Lanka suffered an embarrassing 278-run loss to India in the second Test. Sangakkara, 37, thanked one and all for the lovely send-off and the wishes. “Thank you for the wonderful farewell. I will miss the cricket. But my amazing wife and children await my innings with them. Time for family,” Sangakkara wrote on his Twitter page.
