Kyle Abbott has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) by the South Africa Cricketers’ Association (SACA) at the annual Cricket South Africa (CSA) awards in Johannesburg. Abbot has played two Tests for South Africa so far, taking nine wickets on his debut in 2013. His last Test came against Australia earlier this year. He has also been named in the South African squad for the Test series in Sri Lanka in July.

In eight First-Class matches during the 2013-14 season, Abbott accounted for 30 wickets at an average of 18.06. He is yet another fast-bowler produced by South Africa and serves as a good back-up for the likes of Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel. In the coming months, he would be looking to establish himself in the side.
