Not so big Raipur clouds welcomed the victorious teams from yesterdays encounter. It was all colour and enthusiasm-pink and orange were trending- the uniforms of Lahore Lions and Norther Knights. After winning the toss, Lahore Lions captain Mohammad Hafeez elected to bowl first after smelling some pace, visualizing the daunting clouds and relying on the four seamers.
Just at the start, Umar Akmal, missed a chance to become a second-time hero by missing a stumping chance when the ‘Northern Knight’ , Kane Williamson was just just batting on 3.
The start was quiet, as silent as some old school cricket match. After 2 overs, Knights were just settling in at 15 runs, when Anton Devich( 5) in attempt to firefly the Knights innings headed back to the pavilion. Knights, continued cautiously , single , doubles and some sweetly timed shots just to keep the scoreboard moving at an average of close to 8. Catch the Live Blog of the match here
Williamson again got a blessing when he was dropped by Nasir Jamshed in the fifth over but he couldn’t make much use of it as he was finally dismissed by Aizaz Cheema in the next over went he top edged a pull.
The run-rate suffered massively after the fall of two early wickets with Knights jammed at 37 after 6 overs. As predicted by Hafeez the wicket was quick, Knights were either edging it, getting hit on body or mistyming. Knights finally decided to target the spinners, Hafeez went for 12 runs but also got the wicket of Daniel Harris in return. Knights skipper, Daniel Flynn took the intiative and added few quick runs as he raced away to 15 from just 9 balls.
Knights had reached 73 after 10 overs.
