Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi revealed that he has financed the petitions against N Srinivasan and others. The apex court on Monday had come down heavily on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Srinivasan.

“I am financing the petition against Srinivasan and others. There is no harm in backing anyone who helps me,” Modi said in his interview to CNN IBN.

In the run-up to the hearing on November 24, the BCCI mulled looking in to who financed Aditya Verma in the legal proceedings against the board, “It will be debated who is behind Verma and where is he getting funds to engage costly lawyer and stay in star hotels. We will have to get to the bottom of this.” a source from BCCI was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror.

Speaking to Times Now, Modi said, “I think BCCI jumped the gun by trying to give a clean-chit to everybody. I think it was sending the wrong message. We must address the issue of match fixing now, and get rid of it. All internal inquiries by BCCI have not shown anything. Only Supreme Court can fix this issue now. We are seeing match fixers get away with fixing. It’s high time that stopped. When I ran IPL, it was completely clean. All the fixing that has happened has been after my tenure. We have enough data to support Meiyappan was part of Chennai Super Kings.”

The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing for November 25.
