Pragyan Ojha is not just celebrating his own selection in the Indian team for next month’s Test series against the West Indies, he is also elated for fellow Hyderabadi VVS Laxman, who has been named vice-captain for the three matches starting June 20.
“I am very happy for Laxman Bhai who has been named vice-captain,” Ojha told PTI.
The left-arm spinner, who has played 11 Tests and 16 ODIs, said he is looking forward to make good use of the opportunity. Ojha has 42 wickets in Tests and 20 ODI scalps.
“I am very happy because it is a good opportunity. I was hoping for it and looking forward to do well,” he said. Asked about the two other spinners — Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra — in the side, Ojha said he is focused on himself. “I want to focus on myself. I will be under pressure if I am not focussed,” he said.
Ojha hoped that spin bowling would play an important role in making it tough for the West Indians.
