Afghanistan registered a relatively easy win over Oman in their first match by three wickets and will look to carrying on their momentum on to this match as well. Their batsmen backed their bowlers’ efforts to ensure that they did not face any hiccups throughout the match. Hong Kong on the other hand lost their match to Oman by a narrow five-run margin under controversial circumstances. Babar Hayat was excellent as he struck a magnificent 60-ball 122, but could not get his team over the line. Gulbadin Naib was the pick of the Afghanistan bowlers as he finished with figures of 2 for 24 in his four overs. He was supported well by fast bowler Dawlat Zadran, who was economical in his spell. Noor Ali Zadran was the star with the bat, scoring 63 off just 44 deliveries, to help Afghanistan chase down the target of 166 against Oman.

For Hong Kong, Nadeem Ahmed was brilliant with the ball in his spell of four overs against Oman, as he finished with 3 for 27. Nobody barring Hayat made any significant contribution to the team’s total and will have to step u with the bat significantly if they are to cause any sort of trouble to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan are firm favourites to make it to the group stages of the Asia Cup 2016 and a win against Hong Kong will go a long way in achieving that.
