Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day 3 of the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy quarter-final between Assam and Punjab, live from Valsad. Going into the tournament, the two sides are evenly matched. Day 2 has both up and downs for Assam as their bowlers performed exlempary well. The final half  and hour or so belonged to Punjab as Barinder Singh Sran demolished three quick Assam wickets. Assam in the day were all out for 323 as Punjab pacer Siddharth Kaul picked up four wickets. In reply Punjab was somewhat saved by a horror innings with the help of Mayank Siddana’s 80* not-out. LIVE CRICKET SCORE Punjab 224/8 in 60  overs |Target: 288 | Batting: Gitansh Khera , Barinder Singh Sran, : Punjab have had a on-off day with the bat losing as many as three wickets in as many over in the final hour of play. Arup Das managed to pick three quick scalps in Harbhajan Singh, Siddharth Kaul and Mayank Siddana. Siddana was out for 43 runs, while Harbhajan was dismissed for just 8 runs. Followed by Kaul who made run a ball 10. Punjab going into stump need more 64 runs heading into Day 4 have Gitansh Khera and Barinder Singh Sran.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Punjab 178/5 in 45  overs |Target: 288 | Batting: Mayank Siddana 42(58) , Gitansh Khera 16(51) : Punjab have looked solid after an wicket taking spell by Dhiraj Goswami, Mayank Siddana and Gitansh Khera have managed to keep a bay the Assam fast bowlers from picking wickets. Siddana looks good to get a half century, striking seven four’s while Khera have survived well in 50 odd balls he has faced. Punjab slowy nearing towards Assam’s set target needing just 110 runs to win.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Punjab 133/5 in 30.2  overs |Target: 288 | Batting:  Mayank Siddana 14(21): TEA! OUT! Gurkeerat Singh Mann innings of 64 runs come to an end as Dhiraj Goswami picks his second wicket. Mann made 64 runs in just 55 balls hitting 12 four towards the fence. Goswami has bowled well and picked up much deserved reward for the same. Punjab still have 155 runs to chase down with half their team already in the pavillion.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Punjab 96/4 in 23  overs |Target: 288 | Batting:  Gurkeerat Mann 41(28), Mayank Siddana: OUT!! Dhiraj Goswami picks up the key wicket of Mandeep Singh, who looked set for a big score. Punjab team did manage to survive well after losing three wickets in a flurry. Mandeep Singh and Gurkeerat Mann had batted well and with positivism to keep their hopes alive of qualifying further for the semi-final stage. Mann has been in smashing form making 41 quick runs in just 28 balls, while Mandeep has been just the opposite making 28 off 47 balls. Punjab still need 192 runs to win.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Punjab 26/3 in 9.3 overs |Target: 288 | Batting: Mandeep Singh, Gurkeerat Mann: OUT!! Post-lunch session has been all about Arup Das, Das has been on a roll after coming from lunch. Pargat Singh is his third wicket as he gives a catch away to Pallav Kumar Das, Pargat made 16 runs off 25 balls. Second wicket to go was Uday Kaul for a duck as he gave his catch to K B Arun Karthick again picked by Arup Das. To start the downfall as the wicket of Jiwanjot Singh. Jiwanjot made 9 runs of just 28 balls.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Punjab 8/0 in 3 overs |Target: 288 | Batting: Jiwanjot Singh 7(15),Pargat Singh 0(3): Jiwanjot SIngh and Pargar Singh will look to make a solid start after manageing to go wicketless in the first 3 overs, chasing a target of 288 runs.After a heroics of the bowlers, now Punjab will want their batsmen to do the trick the second time around. In the first innings Punjab could manage 137 runs.

Kaul this evenings picks his fourth wicket for giving away just 15 runs.  Assam now ask Punjab to chase down 288 runs.Barinder Singh Sran gets his fifth wicket after picking up Dhiraj Goswami for 14 runs. Sran earlier had gained the wicket of Gokul Sharma, Amit Verma, K B Arun Karthick and Ami Sinha, Sran’s figure stood at 5 for 43.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Assam 64/8  in Overs 30.4  | Batting: Dhiraj Goswami 12(18) , Arup Das  4(3) : Assam continue their bad start as they lose their eight wicket in Syed Mohammed, Siddharth Kaul picks his third wicket of the innings. Syed who achieved a century in the first innings was dismissed for only 10 runs. Before this Kaul had also picked up the wicket of  Tarjinder Singh for zero. Assam are now only left with two wickets with a lead of 250 runs.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Assam 31/6  in Overs 21  | Batting: Syed Mohammed 2(12), Tarjinder Singh 0(5): Assam sees another brilliant batting collapse this morning. Losing wicket after wicket in a flurry. Barinder Singh Sran continued his good bowling spell picking another wicket of Amit Sinha for just 3 runs. Key man Rahul Hazarika was picked by Deepak Bansal for 57 ball 18. Punjab bowers have good class apart this morning, bowling in the all the right areas

LIVE CRICKET SCORE Assam 29/4  in Overs 15  | Batting:Rahul Hazarika 12 (42), Amit Sinha 3(30):  Assam batsmen will now look to survive session per session, Day 2 ended on a bad note for them as they lost 4 wickets for just 23 runs.  Rahul Hazarika has so far been the one man army in the team in both the innings.  Currently batting on 13 runs in 46 balls so far. Amit Sinha will look to support Hazarika.

Assam ended the day on a low, losing four wickets for just 23 runs in their second innings. Punjab Barinder Singh Sran had a brilliant spell picking demolishing 3 wickets in just a five overs. Assam started Day 2 with Syed Mohammed hitting 121 runs to guide them to a first innings total of 323. Punjab batting failed big time having a horrifying start losing 4 wickets for just 13 runs.  The only pillar of support for the team was Manyank Siddana who remained 80* not-out. Lower order batting was just as same as the top order falling like a pack of cards as Arup Das and Krishna Das went though the lower and top order. Arup picked up three wickets for 41 runs as Krishna picked up three fo 54, other wickets were shared between Dhiraj Goswami and Pallav Kumar Das picking one and two respectively.
