Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the Day Three of the second Test between Bangladesh and Australia at Chittagong. We will provide you with the live updates from the day’s play. Bangladesh, who had a good Day One were bowled out for 305 on the second day. Nathan Lyon ended up pouching a seven-for. Contrary to perceptions, Australia did not collapse this time and are 80 runs behind with 8 wickets in hand. If Australia manage a sizable lead, Bangladesh will be under tremendous pressure to save the Test. As usual, the onus will be on Shakib Al Hasan to guide Bangladesh’s recovery.
He has bowled wicket-less 15 overs. It was Mustafizur Rahman who scalped the wicket of Matt Renshaw and later Taijul Islam got the prized wicket of Steven Smith, not before the Australian skipper had piled up 88. David Warner (88) and Peter Handscomb (69) are at the crease. Australia, who are 225 for 2, will at least eye a 450. It was a restrained knock from Warner, who usually likes to be aggressive.
His 88 not out came from 170 balls and consisted only 4 boundaries. Warner is a batter who is quite capable of scoring a ton in a session but the situation demanded to alter his game and the Australian vice-captain followed up his century at Mirpur with another important knock.
We have seen Tests being changed in a matter of session in this series and today will be no different. Will it be Australian dominance or Bangladesh will be able to make a strong comeback? It promises to be another interesting day.
