In a low scoring thriller in the first One-Day International (ODI), Sri lanka scripted a dramatic 13-run win over hosts Bangladesh after being the second best team for large parts of the rain- affected game.
Bangladesh bowlers showed a lot of promise to reduce Sri Lanka to 68 for eight before Thisara Perera’s blitzkrieg of an innings rescued the Sri Lankans. Mushfiqur Rahim would hope that that his middle order batsmen show better composure and application while Sri Lanka would look to stamp their authority as a ODI unit as bigger challenges await them during the road to ICC World Cup 2015.
Bangladesh have not lost a bilateral series at home since 2011 and are expected to fight tooth and nail to extend that record.
Teams:
Bangladesh: Mushfiqur Rahim (c), Anamul Haque (wk), Arafat Sunny, Mahmudullah, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mominul Haque, Nasir Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Shamsur Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Sohag Gazi.
Sri Lanka: Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kusal Perera, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews (c), Kithuruwan Vithanage, Thisara Perera, Sachitra Senanayake, Ajantha Mendis, Suranga Lakmal, Lasith Malinga.
