After an unbeaten record century by Kumar Sangakkara, Sri Lanka will be hungry to pile on runs in their first innings against Bangladesh in the second Test at Chittagong on Wednesday.

The Lankans were 314 for five at stumps on Day One.

Sangakkara’s masterful hundred saw Sri Lanka gain the upper-hand on the opening day. Mahela Jayawardene may have missed a ton of his own but he did play the supporting role to perfection.

The spin-heavy Bangladesh attack took some sheen off Sri Lanka’s dominance by snaring late wickets but they have a stiff task ahead with Sangakkara in the mood for a big one. Kithuruwan Vithanage, fresh from a ton in Dhaka oozes talent as well.

Brief scores:

Sri Lanka 314 for 5 (Dimuth Karunaratne 31, Kumar Sangakkara 160*, Mahela Jayawardene 72; Shakib al Hasan 2 for 70) vs Bangladesh.
