Good Afternoon/Evening! Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Match 28 of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016 between Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors, at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill in Florida, USA on Thursday/Friday. I am Ayush Gupta, and I will be bringing to you the live updates from this tie. The Warriors are currently placed second in the table, as they are certain of a play-offs spot, while a win here would take them atop the table. For Tridents, they are at fifth spot, and a win here would take them to fourth spot, challenging for the play-offs spot.
Earlier on Friday, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots managed to beat Trinbago Knight Riders by 34 runs in the 26th match of the Caribbean Premier League at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. The Knight Riders lost their last 7 wickets for just 43 runs while chasing the Patriots’ target of 180-5. Colin Munro while coming in at No.3 did look in splendid touch while hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes in his innings of 46. His wicket was picked up by Krishmar Santokie was perhaps the turning point in the game. Santokie took 3 wickets in all, along with Sheldon Cotrell, who also took the same number of wickets, turning the match in his team’s favour. The Knight Riders were all out for 146.
Earlier St Kitts and Nevis Patriots while being asked to bat first had a good start. Evin Lewis took them off to a flyer. The first wicket partnership for 65 runs between JJ Smuts and Lewis was critical in laying the foundation for the batsmen to come in. Lewis hit 79 off 40 balls, with 4 fours and 8 sixes in his match-winning knock. Although the middle-order including Faf Du Plessis could not capitalize, the lower middle order did chip in with valuable runs. Shamarh Brooks’ cameo took them to a total of 180-5 in 20 overs.
