Good Evening! Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Match 2 of the 2015-16 Big Bash League (BBL) between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars at the Adelaide Oval. I am Ayush Gupta, and I will bring you the live updates of the game. Adelaide, who are indeed one of the star studded side of the BBL have failed to feature in the final of the competition till date, over the past five seasons. However, the Stars, who are certainly the most star-studded side in the whole competition, have managed to reach the semi-finals, but could not progress to the final. Both the teams would aim for a final sot this season as they begin their group stage campaign from hereon.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: MS 168/7 in 20 Overs; BATTING: James Faulkner 10 (10), John Hastings 16 (8)STRIKERS WIN!!!! Impressive performance by the home teams the Stars just couldn’t live up to the expectations and failed to fire adequately despite given a number of lifelines.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: MS 87/1 in 10 Overs; BATTING: Marcus Stoinis 48 (34), Kevin Pietersen 18 (12) — GONE!!!! Finally a breakthrough, and what a way to get it, as they earn it through a hit-wicket as Luke Wright stands on his stumps off Adil Rashid, while Kevin Pietersen makes his way in.

OUT! Luke Wright hit wicket b Adil Rashid 13 (12)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: MS 42/0 in 5 Overs; BATTING: Marcus Stoinis 26 (19), Luke Wright 13 (11)Good start to the chase so far by the Stars, however, it is the three dropped catches and a stumping chance miss that have saved the Stars from a possible collapse.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: AS 187/5 in 20 Overs; BATTING: Brad Hodge 56 (41), Michael Nese 7 (3) — THAT’S IT!!!! The strikers finishing on a challenging total of 187 for the loss of five wickets, with Alex Ross being the final man to be dismissed for an impressive 65 off 31, as he was trapped leg-before by Boland, while Hodge too played a brilliant knock of 56 off 41. Can Stars see this game off?

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: AS 111/4 in 15 Overs; BATTING: Brad Hodge 24 (25), Alex Ross 31 (27) No harm done following the fall of the fourth wicket as both the batsmen continue to bat steadily and make sure that they don’t suffer further setbacks till the end of the innings and not until they post a challenging total, as they go pst the 100-run mark.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: AS 65/4 in 10 Overs; BATTING: Brad Hodge 8 (12), Alex Ross 1 (2) COUPLE MORE DOWN!!!! Mahela Jayawardene and Travis Head too make their way back as Brad Hodge and Alex Ross are the new men in while the Strikers go past the 50-run mark.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: AS 38/2 in 5 Overs; BATTING: Travis Head 1 (1), Mahela Jayawardene 5 (7) — THREE DOWN!!!! Shaky start by the Strikers as they lose openers Craig Simmons and Tim Ludeman for cheap 13 and 18, respectively, while Mahela Jayawardene and Travis Head make their way in. It looked to be an explosive start, but just coudn’t get the momentum going.

OUT! Craig Simmons c John Hastings b Scott Boland 13 (7), Tim Ludeman st Peter Handscomb b Michael Beer 18 (15)

TOSS: Melbourne Stars win the toss and elect to bowl first at the Adelaide Oval.

Adelaide, who have stars like Brad Hodge, Mahela Jayawardene, Ben Laughlin, Adil Rashid, Kane Richardson, Craig Simmons and many more can certainly inflict great damage to the opponent team. However, when it comes to the Stars, they have indeed the stars in the side, with the likes of David Hussey, James Faulkner, John Hastings, Ben Hilfenhaus, Glenn Maxwell, Kevin Pietersen, Luke Wright and many more, who can just destroy the opponent in no time. Thus, it surely won’t be an easy ride for the strikers, even at their home turf.

Squads:

Adelaide Strikers: Jono Dean, Travis Head, Brad Hodge (c), Jon Holland, Mahela Jayawardene, Alex Keath, Hamish Kingston, Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Tim Ludeman, Michael Neser, Gary Putland, Adil Rashid, Kane Richardson, Alex Ross, Craig Simmons, Kelvin Smith, Billy Stanlake.
