Good Morning नमस्कार! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of the warm-up game between Board’s President XI and Australia . The match is being played at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Steven Smith and co. will be eager to battle it out in tough conditions against a seemingly weaker BP XI. The BP XI is being captained by Gurkeerat Singh Mann, who has played for India earlier. The BP XI consists of namely Indian Premier League (IPL) rookies and a few top-domestic performers.
Sadly for Australia, there was some bad news as Aaron Finch was ruled out of the match due to a calf injury. Hilton Cartwright too has been troubled with an niggle. This match is the perfect change for players like Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Wade, James Faulkner, Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile to get some much needed time on the pitch.
BP XI,on the other hand, has players like Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana and Washington Sundar, who have had successful run in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With most of the Indian players involved in Duleep Trophy, the selectors had named an XI comprising of relatively unknown players but it is a chance that they would relish the opportunity because not often that they get to face international opposition.
Squads:
Australia: Steven Smith (c), David Warner, Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Patrick Cummins, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade (wk), Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson.
