Cricket Australia Chairman’s XI declared their first innings at 398 for six against India at the Manuka Oval in Canberra in the two-day warm-up game on Thursday. Tom Cooper scored a fine unbeaten 182 and Wes Robinson scored 143.

Cooper struck 24 boundaries and three sixes in his innings of 182 not out, which came from 194 balls.

Cooper and Wes Robinson added 226 runs for the third wicket.

Robinson fell for 143, which came fromm 215 balls with the help of 13 boundaries and six sixes.

Resuming their innings at 186 for two after tea, Robinson and Cooper didn’t give any chance to Indian bowlers and clobbered them all over the park.

Umesh Yadav then struck twice in quick succession to lead India’s fightback, as the lower-middle order of CA Chairman’s XI failed to make a mark in the two-day match.

Earlier in the day, right-arm pacer Yadav provided India the first breakthrough when he had Broad caught by wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha for eight.

Pragyan Ojha bagged the second wicket of the session dismissing Joe Burns for 21, after he added a further 31 runs with Robinson.

At lunch, Robinson was at the crease batting on 19 off 78 balls, accompanied by Tom Cooper at 2.

India rested their key players Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for this match.

The two-day practise match allows only 11 players to bat, but 13 players can take part in it. This implies that India will aim to test all their pacers ahead of the important Test series against Australia starting December 26.

Brief Scores: Cricket Australia Chairman’s XI 398 for 6 dec (Tom Cooper 182*, Wes Robinson 143; Umesh Yadav 3 for 39, Pragyan Ojha 2 for 149) vs India.
