Highveld Lionsset a target of 140 runs to win against Delhi Daredevils in their semi-final match of the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) 2012 at Durban on Thursday.
Gulam Bodi struck a fluent half-century and Neil McKenzie scored 46 not out to lift to a challenging total of 139 for five in their allotted 20 overs.
Asked to bat first, local side Lions made a cautious approach in their innings.
Opening pair of Alviro Petersen and Bodi added 34 runs, before the former was removed by Umesh Yadav for 24.
Quinton de Kock flopped with the bat as he could manage only 11 off 13 balls, and fell to Ajit Agarkar in the 10th over.
The Daredevils shifted momentum towards their end when Pawan Negi struck to dismiss Dwaine Pretorious for three.
But, the Lions fought back with a 59–run stand for the fourth wicket between Bodi and Neil McKenzie to reach 139 for five.
Umesh was Delhi’s most impressive bowler, taking two wickets for 20 runs.
