Stokes slammed a quickfire century — 102 off just 92 balls, with the help of 15 boundaries and three sixes to achieve his feat. READ: England vs New Zealand, 1st Test at Lord’s: What lies ahead?

Root was splendid as ever during his innings, and it certainly provided solidity and impetus to England, who were rocked early on the fourth day by the tourists.
