LIVE: Hong Kong vs Oman, Desert T20 2017, Group B Match 5, Oman: 89/3 | Overs 11 | Khurram Nawaz 5(7), Aqib Ilyas 56 (30): Oman bag an easy win by 7 wickets and 9 overs in hand. Hong Kong’s over dependency on Babar Hayat cost them the match and their bowlers cannot be blamed, for they had very little run to defend. They were under pressure and Ilyas utilised it well, scoring a stunning 56.

He has kept theruns coming with boundaries flowing in frequently. Seems like the match will get over soon enough. Oman just a few runs away from their first victory in the tournament.

LIVE: Hong Kong vs Oman, Desert T20 2017, Group B Match 5, Hong Kong: 87 | Overs 17.1| Tanveer Ahmed 7(9): The poor batting comes to an end with the final wicket and Hong Kong put up a paltry 87 on the board. Oman captain rotated his bowlers exceptionally well, especially the move of letting Bilal bowl consecutive overs worked well to get them early scalps. Now, if Oman don’t replicate Hong Kong’s batting misery, they are sure to bag their first win in this tournament.

LIVE: Hong Kong vs Oman, Desert T20 2017, Group B Match 5, Hong Kong: 72/9 | Overs 16| Christopher Carter 11(14), Tanveer Ahmed 0(1): Yet another wicket goes down. Oh Hong Kong! Wickets are falling more frequently than runs are being scored. With a lot of big-hitters in the side, they yet again disappoint and the onus comes entirely upon bowlers.

However, with only 2 wickets at hand, their aim should be to reach 100. The bowlers otherwise will have nothing to protect.

Losing wicket left, right and center, Hong Kong’s chances of reaching 100 look bleak and Oman are on top of the game. There is hardly any positive in the batting.

Hello, good evening! Welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket updates and blog post of the Desert T20 Challenge. This is match No. 5 of the tournament between Oman and Hong Kong. I am Paulami Chakraborty and I will bring to you all the live cricket updates and scores of the match. The match is scheduled to be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Both Hong Kong and Oman have lost their previous matches in the tournament and will seek their first victory to open their account. Oman lost their series opener to the Netherlands while Hong Kong were handed a defeat by Scotland in their first match.

Hong Kong, in their last match, were disappointing in all departments. They gave away too many runs which helped their opponents to put to a total of 189, which created a lot of pressure on the batsmen who eventually fell apart. The top-order batting failed to win the battle of nerves and though the middle-order stepped up, it was too late and victory had already slipped away from their hands.

Oman, on the other hand, failed to put up a challenging target. A score of 146 was a par total against a team like the Netherlands in this competition. The bowlers, who performed well, had too little runs to protect and eventually it resulted in a defeat. Both teams, having played one match each in the tournament, now know their strength and will look to improve their performance.

Squads:

Hong Kong: Kyle Christie, Aizaz Khan, Anshuman Rath, Babar Hayat (c), Christopher Carter (wk), Ehsan Khan, Ehsan Nawaz, Cameron McAulsan, Nadeem Ahmed, Nizakat Khan, Shahid Wasif, Tanveer Ahmed, Waqas Barkat, Waqas Khan
