Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the ninth place play-off quarter-final match between South Africa and Ireland in the ICC Under-19 World Cup at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium, Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday. South Africa made a poor start to the competition, losing to the hosts Bangladesh in the first match and then lost to Namibia narrowly in the next game. But a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Scotland in their final match was good enough for them to make it to the knockout stages. Ireland, who replaced Australia in the tournament have lost all the three matches in the tournament so far and a loss against South Africa ill see them booted out of the tournament. Toss: Ireland won the toss and elected to bat first

Ireland started off the tournament well having India on the back foot right from the beginning, but could not carry on that consistency in that match and the same goes for the other two matches as well. They will hope that they can turn the tables on South Africa when the face them on Thursday.

Defending champions South Africa were left stunned by the defeat against Bangladesh in the opening fixture. They would have hoped to bounce back immediately, but that did not happen as well. They however thrashed Scotland comprehensively and will carry the momentum onto this game against Ireland.

Ireland must be wary of South Africa. They have the talent and have a lot of talent in their side, who can be an asset on a given day.
