The hosts lost the wicket of Abhinav Mukund (9 off 6 balls) early, but a 107-run stand between KL Rahul (96 off 185) and skipper Cheteshwar Pujara (55 off 122) helped put them on top for some time. Shreyas Iyer too contributed with 39 runs off 58 balls, including seven boundaries. Eventually the Australian bowling unit managed to claw their way back as Andrew Fekete (2 for 38) and Steve O’Keefe (2 for 66) took two wickets each to peg India back. The most economical bowler however, was Sean Abbott (14-4-23-1). India finished on a score of 221 for six after 77.1 overs at the end of the day’s play.
