Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the second unofficial Test match between South Africa A and India A. The match will take place at Wayanad, which was also the venue for the first game. India A battled their way to a draw after tense moments in the first match. Quinton de Kock, Omphile Ramela scored centuries to propel South Africa to a commendable score of 542 in the first innings. In response India were skittled out for a mere 204. Only Shreyas Iyer and Ambati Rayudu showed any semblance of fight with 49 and 46 runs respectively.
Dane Piedt ran through the side with a fifer. South Africa A batted again to add another 105 runs before declaring, setting India A a total of 444 runs to chase. India A had to bat out over a day if they were to save the game. After losing a few early wickets, they managed to do so quite well in the end owing to a fighting hundred by Karun Nair and an unbeaten 74 by Vijay Shankar. Nair having joined the main India team for their series against Sri Lanka, will not play the second game. One wonders how India A will perform without him.
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 260 | Overs 89.5 | Batsmen: Beuran Hendricks 0 (0): What a dramatic ‘turn’ of fortunes for India A! The spinners have done it for them. South Africa A were cruising at 184 for two at one stage and now they’ve been bowled out for 260 in 89.5 overs. Akshar Patel took five wickets, while JJ Yadav took three. Karn Sharma chipped in with two wickets.
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 236/6 | Overs 85 | Batsmen: Dane Vilas 15 (36), Dane Piedt 1 (11): India A are now on top! Akshar Patel has made the breakthrough this time and Temba Bavuma has to depart. India are now all over South Africa A. Just about 45 minutes back, it was advantage South Africa A, but the India A spinners have turned this around in dramatic fashion. OUT! Temba Bavuma 17 (76) c Baba Aparajith b Akshar Patel
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 230/5 | Overs 81 | Batsmen: Temba Bavuma 17 (74), Dane Vilas 14 (25): After an enthralling 96 runs in tricky conditions, Stiaan van Zyl was dismissed by JJ Yadav four short of his century! India A further crawled back in the game when the same bowler was responsible for getting Quinton de Kock out for a duck. India A have evened out the game with those two quick wickets after an underwhelming start.
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 188/3 | Overs 66 | Batsmen: Temba Bavuma 1 (28), Stiaan van Zyl 90 (177): South Africa A have lost Omphile Ramela for 30 and things have slowed down for them ever since. Time for India A to make an impact and penetrate the batting order. Stiaan van Zyl going strong at 90. OUT! Omphile Ramela 30 (65) c Baba Aparajith b Karn Sharma
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 184/2 | Overs 58 | Batsmen: Omphile Ramela 30 (63), Stiaan van Zyl 87 (159): South Africa A are negotiating the spinners quite well. If all goes well Stiaan van Zyl will be celebrating his hundred shortly, a much deserved one too. Omphile Ramela seems to be well settled. India A will be keen to deny van Zyl that celebration.
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 144/2 | Overs 47 | Batsmen: Omphile Ramela 13 (20), Stiaan van Zyl 64 (136): India A made another breakthrough in the 39th over, with JJ Yadav getting the wicket of a Gihahn Cloete. Van Zyl has batted very well and has kept the South Africa A innings going. Things could get bad for them if India A get his wicket. OUT! Gihahn Cloete 26 (56) c Vijay Shankar b JJ Yadav
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 98/1 | Overs 37 | Batsmen: Gihahn Cloete 21 (48), Stiaan van Zyl 40 (104): South Africa A have steadied themselves after losing Reeza Hendricks in the 22nd over. Gihahn Cloete and Stiaan van Zyl have batted sensibly against spin bowling. They will look to keep the pressure on.
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 80/1 | Overs 29 | Batsmen: Gihahn Cloete 13 (27), Stiaan van Zyl 32 (75): India A finally managed to make a breakthrough in the 22nd over with Akshar Patel making the crucial breakthrough. The spinners will hold key to India’s chances of keeping South Africa A limited to a low score. OUT! Reeza Hendricks 22 (76) c Baba Aparajith b Akshar Patel
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 58/0 | Overs 20 | Batsmen: Reeza Hendricks 22 (70), Stiaan van Zyl 25 (52): After a slow start, the South Africa A openers are slowly becoming a bit more comfortable. They aren’t exactly racing through, but they are building a solid foundation for a good first innings total. The India A seamers have failed to make an impact with the new ball.
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 21/0 | Overs 8 | Batsmen: Reeza Hendricks 13 (28), Stiaan van Zyl 1 (22): South Africa have been thoroughly tested by the Indian seamers but they’re maintaining the calm and though they are going very slow, they’ll be happy to not have lost a wicket this far. India A will be keen to cash in on the pressure before the ball becomes too soft.
Live Cricket Score South Africa A: 6/0 | Overs 3 | Batsmen: Reeza Hendricks 6 (12), Stiaan van Zyl 0 (6): Reeza Hendricks hit a four off the last ball of the third over, thus upping the run rate a wee bit. South Africa A started very slowly and the India A bowlers will look to capitalise on the pressure created.
