Hello, good morning and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog and updates’ post from third match of Deodhar Trophy 2016-17 between India A and Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016-17 champion Tamil Nadu. I, Abhishek Kumar, will be bringing you the live cricket scores and updates from this game being played at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. India A and Tamil Nadu have lost one match each and both were defeated by India B side. Also, both the sides lost their respective matches while chasing, which gives a fair idea that team batting first may get advantage in this game.
This will be a do or die match for both these teams, as whoever wins the match, will meet India B in the final on March 29, Wednesday. Looking at both the chases, India A seem to have performed better than Tamil Nadu as they ended up scoring above 300 and lost the contest by 23 runs, which is a lesser margin of defeat than that of Vijay Shankar-led side. Tamil Nadu, who were chasing 317 against India B, were bowled out for 284 in the 49th over of the match and lost the game by 32 runs. Another common thing between both these matches was the over when these two teams got bowled out. Both India A and Tamil Nadu were bowled out in the 49th over of their chase.
Looking at the bowling of both the sides, India B definitely have more experienced bowlers, such as Harbhajan Singh, alongside young guns like Shardul Thakur, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Siddharth Kaul, who took five-wicket haul in the previous match and M Prasidh Krishna. On the other hand, Tamil Nadu do not have big names in their bowling unit but they have bowlers like Rahil Shah, who did impressively in the recently concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy. Also, Tamil Nadu are yet to play their star bowler from Vijay Hazare Trophy, Aswin Crist, who was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 20 wickets.
Coming to batting of both the teams, middle-order of Tamil Nadu failed to deliver in the last match, which resulted in their defeat. However, Dinesh Karthik will be expected to deliver in this must-win match. Whereas in India A, there are plenty of big names, such as Ambati Rayudu, Manoj Tiwary, Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda and Mayank Agarwal. These batsmen have the ability to take the game away from opponents’ hand from any situation. All in all, with this match being a must-win for both the sides, one can expect another thrilling contest in Deodhar Trophy.
