A disciplined performance by the Indian team has helped the World Champions to restrict Sri Lanka to a paltry score of 233 for the loss of eight wickets in the second One-Day International (ODI) on Wednesday.
Ravichandran Ashwin was the most successful Indian bowler who grabbed three wickets conceding 32 runs as Sri Lanka were not allowed to accelerate throughout their innings.
Zaheer Khan stuck two early blows as he got rid of Upul Tharanga and Kumar Sangakkara at low scores.
Earlier, Sri Lanka after winning the toss asked India to bowl first as Mahela Jayawardene returned as the skipper of the island nation.
Dinesh Chandimal (64) was the top scorer for Sri Lanka as other top-order batsmen failed to make a big score.
Angelo Mathews’ (33) late surge helped Sri Lanka to reach in 50 overs but it would prove worthless if bowlers fail to contain strong Indian batting line-up.
Brief Score: Sri Lanka 233 for 8 in 50 overs (Dinesh Chandimal 64, Tillakaratne Dilshan 48, Angleo Mathews 33; Ravichandran Ashwin 3 for 32, Zaheer Khan 2 for 44, Ravindra Jadeja 1 for 41) vs India
