Dhoni is batting from the same end from where he struck the finishing six in the 2011 World Cup final. Dhoni this time clips it on the on-side. It’s FOUR. He does finish it off in style. Who writes his scripts? India take series 3-0.

Jaydev Unadkat wins the Man of the Match and Man of the Series.

  • 10:26 PM IST

Dhoni almost finished it off in style… Single. A slog but single. An over-throw and Dhoni is back on strike.

  • 10:25 PM IST

So a SIX from Dhoni coming up to end it all?

  • 10:24 PM IST

DK tries to be cute. Attempts a scoop and misses. India making it difficult for themselves. Another attempted slog and DK gets 2. This is the most important ball so far coming up… Pradeep bowls a waist-high full-toss and DK launches it behind deep midwicket for a SIX! That’s the game.

  • 10:21 PM IST

DK gets single. Dhoni living dangerously. Almost handed a caught and bowled to Pradeep. DK slogs. Doesn’t connects. He gets 2. 11 off 9 balls now.

  • 10:19 PM IST

Thisara to bowl. 5 singles and Dhoni misses a pull. 5 from it. 15 off 2 overs. Chameera has finished off with 4-0-22-2. Pradeep will bowl. This will be the crucial over.

  • 10:13 PM IST

Is this the moment that will change the game. The extra bounce does Dhoni. He opens the face and it goes past Dickwella for a boundary. Dhoni is trapped on the pad off the last ball. That looks close. Sri Lanka review. They have no choice. Dhoni tried to play across and missed. The bounce does the trick. Dhoni stays. India need 20 from 3 overs.

  • 10:09 PM IST

Pandey missed a straight one. That ball comes in and beats his bat. Chameera has bowled well. Whew. It will have to be Dhoni doing the finishing act again. Sri Lanka. Wankhede. Memories? Just for a fact, DK made his Test debut before Dhoni. It was DK whom Dhoni replaced… Ya, DK has been around that long…

OUT! Manish Pandey b Dushmanta Chameera 32 (29)

  • 10:04 PM IST

It’s Dinesh Karthik. Pandya was livid with himself after that dismissal. That wasn’t a wicket ball. It’s Pandey and DK, the two men who are fighting for a middle-order slot in the side. DK is a busy cricketer. He has got 3 off 3. Pandey slaps Pradeep through extra-cover for boundary. Are Sri Lanka missing Lasith Malinga here?

India need 28 off 24 balls. They have got the required rate down to 7.

  • 10:00 PM IST

Pandey was waiting for the short ball. Shanaka gifts him. He slaps it in the deep midwicket gap for a boundary. Now Shanaka gifts a full-toss. Oh dear, Pandey slams it in the same region for another four. What’s happening, Sri Lanka? Don’t you enjoy wins? 1 4 4 1 2 and Pandya trying to be too cute departs. Trying to guide the short ball over the keeper, he plays it straight to Dickwella’s gloves. India have lost 2 wickets in 2 overs.

OUT! Hardik Pandya c Niroshan Dickwella b Dasun Shanaka 4 (4)

India need 37 off 30 balls. MS Dhoni?
  • 9:53 PM IST

This is how good fielding can pick you wickets. Thisara pulls off a brilliant dive to Pandey’s back-foot punch. A run denied. Frustrated, Pandey looks for a pull. Pretty straight, grazes Dananjaya’s palms and on to the stumps. Shreyas was walking towards the other end. Well short of the crease. India lose their third wicket.

OUT! Shreyas Iyer run out (Akila Dananjaya) 30 (32)

Pandey slams straight and a poor fielding gets India four. Quite an interesting over, this. India need 49 off 36 balls. Pandey and Pandya are quite capable of turning the tables here.
  • 9:46 PM IST

Iyer definitely looks someone who can be invested in for a long-term. He has the calmness, the technique and a wide array of strokes. Chameera’s leg-cutter whizzes past Iyer’s bat now. Sri Lanka are sort of releasing the pressure. Chameera has bowled 2 wides in this over. They hurt you in such low-scoring games. The balls don’t count and you give away runs. In bid for 2 quick runs, Iyer has hurt his knee or ankle. He is limping. Not good signs for India. India need 55 from 42 balls.

  • 9:40 PM IST

Five from the first five balls of the Shanaka over. india need boundaries. They haven’t come now in more than 6 overs. And Shreyas strikes one straight down the ground. A slower-ball that lands under the bat and Iyer completes the shot. Much needed. Required rate remains 8. 64 off 48.

  • 9:36 PM IST

Dananjaya gives away 5 from his over. There was an appeal in the over. Pandey might have got an inside edge there. Dananjaya didn’t review thinking so. But it could have been pad-bat as well. It was a googly that slid in. He bowls leg-spin, googly, off-spin, whew. These T20 mystery spinners.

  • 9:31 PM IST

Lesser dot balls from the Thisara over. Six comes off it. Not good enough. Halfway mark, India are 56 for 1. They need another 80 from as many overs. The required run-rate has climbed to 8. Someone will have to take chance. Dananjaya is back into the attack.

  • 9:26 PM IST

Sri Lanka have tightened things well. This is the ideal time for Manish. Iyer meanwhile is trying to walk across the off stump and run the ball down to the thirdman. He misses it again. This is a risky proposition. Iyer has been kept quiet for a while. A slower ball now and Iyer trying to heave gets an inside edge. Lucky, it does not find the stumps. Three dot balls on a row. Iyer finally manages the late-cut. Single. 50 for India and it has taken them 9 overs.

  • 9:17 PM IST

Shanaka starts his spell. The bowlers are getting good bounce off this surface. Iyer and Rohit are both Mumbai players. They know the conditions better than anyone. They too are surprised by the odd bounce. 2 runs from the over. Rohit now pulls, manages a short-arm jab, the extra bounce induces the top edge and he finds Kusal at deep midwicket.

OUT! Rohit Sharma c Kusal Perera b Dasun Shanaka 27 (20)
  • 9:12 PM IST

Rohit turning on the beast mode. Hammers Pradeep through midwicket for a boundary. He now flicks away for another four. As Rohit said after Indore game that he plays with the field. That is what exactly he is doing. 11 off the over. India are 37 for 1 after Powerplay. Sri Lanka had the same score but had lost 2 more wickets.

  • 9:10 PM IST

  • 9:09 PM IST

  • 9:07 PM IST

A dominant square-cut off Rohit’s blade. He welcomes Thisara with a boundary. The next ball cuts him to half. A good in-swinger. Thisara is getting to move the ball back well. A boundary and a single from this over.

  • 9:03 PM IST

Has Chameera got the wicket? India have reviewed. It ends up as umpire’s call. Rahul departs. He looked for a heave on the on-side. He is trapped on the pad. Iyer starts with a boundary off leg.

OUT! KL Rahul lbw b Chameera 4 (9)

  • 8:56 PM IST

Just a run off Chameera’s over. The pressure is building. A wicket will do the trick. But Dananjaya runs into Rohit’s wrath. He finds deep midwicket boundary. He follows it up with a straight one. SIX! 13 off the over. Big one for India. They are back on the track.

  • 8:49 PM IST

Dananjaya starts with a brilliant first over. He almost got Rohit the same way like he got him at Vizag. That came in sharply and bounced over the stumps. Good over. Just 3 from it.

  • 8:43 PM IST

Unadkat: “Really happy with my performance. We started well, myself and Washington in the Powerplay. There was pace and bounce on the surface. We have bowled together in the IPL so that helped. It’s all going in the right track.”

  • 8:34 PM IST

Last chance for Sri Lanka to make a difference with the bat. Shanaka expected to do the belting but Dananjaya gets back-to-back fours. Shanaka smacks hard now. Over deep-midwicket and that’s a six. The innings ends with a 2. SL get 18 off the last over. 135 may not be match-winning but they have something to bowl to.

  • 8:29 PM IST

Unadkat to bowl his final over. 0 0 1. A top-edge that goes aerial and 2 runs. A play-and-miss. A run off the final ball. Unadkat produces a Man Of the Match performance. 4-0-15-2

  • 8:23 PM IST

    Brilliant over from Unadkat. 1 0 2 0 1 0

Pandya to bowl the next one. Gunaratne’s fight ends. Trying to find quick runs, he finds Kuldeep at midwicket. This has been Sri Lanka’s story in nutshell.
OUT! Asela Gunaratne c Kuldeep Yadav b Pandya 36 (37)
  • 8:14 PM IST

Siraj has got good pace and variation. Bowls a very good over. Only 5 from it. Pandya too has bowled very well. He has altered length. Earlier, Kuldeep reviewed a decision on Gunaratne that was turned down. Shanaka has a reputation. Can he deliver? As I type, he has smacked Pandya over deep extra-cover for the first six of the game.

  • 8:01 PM IST

OUT! Danushka Gunathilaka c Pandya b Kuldeep Yadav 3 (8)

OUT! Thisara Perera c Sharma b Mohammed Siraj 11 (6)
Thisara’s knock ends. He was looking to target Siraj. The bowler finally gets his 1st. He has been expensive but his wicket-column won’t be bare.

Good afternoon! Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of India vs Sri Lanka 2017-18. This is the final match of the tour, the third T20I, and here you will get all the live scores and updates of the battle taking place at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. India have already pocketed the series and are en route to pull off a whitewash under the stand-in captain Rohit Sharma, while Sri Lanka will be playing for pride.

Rohit performed brilliantly in both ODIs and T20Is as India thoroughly dominated. Apart from Rohit, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey and MS Dhoni have been India’s key players with the bat. The spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav continued to impress while Hardik Pandya and Jaydev Unadkat took care of pace attack. Surprisingly, Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless in both matches.

Sri Lanka’s bowling performance has been disappointing in the T20Is, and with Angelo Mathews picking up hamstring injury, they suffer another big blow. Upul Tharanga and Kusal Perera put up some impressive batting performance in the previous match and would want their team to join them as they play their last match of the series.

India: Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Deepak Hooda, Basil Thampi, Jaydev Unadkat
