    No surprises.

Evin Lewis is the Man of the Match.
    Here’s my match report.
That’s all we have here. Goodbye.

WI need 8 from 2 overs

  • 12:17 AM IST

  • 12:15 AM IST
WI have made mockery of the target. Dhoni misses another stumping. Samuels survives. Kuldeep finishes his spell: 4-0-34-1

  • 12:11 AM IST

  • 12:10 AM IST
Clap Clap Clap. He can’t be the same man who played the ODIs

  • 12:07 AM IST

Shami goes for another 16-run over. Samuels gets into the act. 2 fours and a brilliant 6 over extra-cover. Shami is tad unlucky here. The last one flew off Samuel’s inside edge.

  • 12:03 AM IST
I do. But I also know West Indies are capable of self implosion.

  • 12:02 AM IST

  • 12:00 AM IST
    11 from the Kuldeep-over.

  • 11:55 PM IST
The over goes for 11. West Indies cruising at the moment. India need wickets. It seems Lewis is continuing from where he left in Florida. Was it a different batsman with a mask on in the ODIs?

  • 11:48 PM IST

  • 11:43 PM IST

A rusty Gayle finally departs. Looks to take apart Kuldeep, gets a top-edge and Dhoni takes an easy catch. That is Kuldeep’s 1st T20I wicket. Brilliant over. Only 4 from it.

OUT! Chris Gayle c MS Dhoni b Kuldeep Yadav 18 (20)

  • 11:35 PM IST

  • 11:34 PM IST

All happening here at Sabina Park. Bhuvi goes for 14. A catch is dropped. Miscommunication between Shami and Kohli. Kuldeep is greeted to his T20I career with a SIX! That’s his fifty. Amazing hitting. Now Karthik drops Lewis. What’s happening? A stumping missed. 2 catches missed. Well…

  • 11:26 PM IST

  • 11:22 PM IST

Gayle greets Shami with straight down the ground boundary. Lewis then takes over. 19 from the Shami over. The over goes — 4 1 2 4 4 4. The 19-run over is followed by a 16-over from Ashwin. Lewis smacks 2 huge maximums in the over.

  • 11:13 PM IST

Gayle survives a stumping. Dhoni misses that. Shaky start from Gayle. He has never been very comfortable against Bhuvi and Ashwin. As I type it, Gayle deposits the final ball of the Ashwin-over over long-off boundary for a six. That’s Gayle’s first six today. How many more at his home ground?

  • 11:10 PM IST

Ashwin is into the attack. He will be bowling to Gayle. Here is India’s innings report.

  • 11:08 PM IST

West Indies batsmen are out in the middle. Gayle is immediately off the mark and Lewis starts with a pull that gets him 2. Just a stat: Lewis has more T20I sixes than fours. The last time he played India in T20I was in Florida and he slammed a ton. Bhuvi starts with a 5-run over.

  • 10:46 PM IST

This has been a superb comeback by West Indies’ side after the blistering start India has got. India suffered yet another middle order collapse losing the likes of MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav and Rishabh Pant in quick succession. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin knocked off 28 runs for the 7th wicket including a 18-run 20th over.

WEST INDIES NEED 191 to win.
  • 10:34 PM IST

  • 10:29 PM IST

There is hardly any time for Dhoni to have a look in. Looking to clear the long off, Dhoni gets a top edge to gully. Taylor strikes. Not the ideal Dhoni day. Oh well, now Pant departs too. Trying to play a fancy upper-cut, gets an edge and Taylor strikes. Taylor on a hat-trick. Jadeja prevents that. Runs 2.

OUT! MS Dhoni c Marlon Samuels b Jerome Taylor 2 (3)
OUT! Rishabh Pant c Chadwick Walton b Jerome Taylor 39 (35)
  • 10:21 PM IST

Pant cuts loose. Greets Samuels into the over with a six and a four. A single later, DK departs trying to slog the off-spinner out of the attack. He misses out a deserved fifty. Dhoni walks out.

OUT! Dinesh Karthik b Marlon Samuels 48 (29)
  • 10:14 PM IST

Pant has damaged his shoulder trying to pull a short ball from Taylor. This has been a struggle of sorts for Pant at the crease. We can understand the pressure. The youngster hasn’t been able to find his timing right. Very good over from Taylor. Only 5 from it. It is high time Pant steps up. This approach isn’t working.

  • 10:09 PM IST
Meanwhile, South Africa have lost the first Test against England by 211 runs

  • 10:03 PM IST

Brathwaite goes for 2 sixes in that over. DK the protagonist for India. Mind you, he would not have played this game had Yuvraj Singh been fit. 14 from that over from the West Indian skipper. Pant needs to follow the suit.

Chris Gayle, Carlos Brathwaite, Marlon Samuels, Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine return in West Indies maroons. It is T20 time. Brace yourselves for fun. Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog and fun updates from the Twitter space for the one-off T20I between India and West Indies at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. I am Suvajit Mustafi and I will be your host for the same. After a 3-1 whipping meted out to the Caribbean side, India will look forward to take home the T20I trophy as well. But this is a format West Indies cherish playing and have an upper hand against the visitors. FULL SCORECARD: India vs West Indies, T20I

Head-to-head West Indies have a 4-2 advantage. The last 2 T20I contests between the sides that yielded in a result went in West Indies’ favour. The 245 vs 244 Florida thriller and preceding that was the World T20 semi-final. The return of the luminaries will make West Indies more competitive side from the one we witnessed in the ODIs.

Both sides ended up with wins in their previous T20I assignments. While India downed England 2-1 earlier this year, West Indies clean-swept the promising Afghans 3-0 last month. India’s balance and the right mix in the bowling attack makes them favourites but not to forget in Narine and Badree, West Indies have 2 of the best bowlers of shorter formats. Add the experience of Jerome Taylor and promise of Kesrick Williams.

While fans will be left guessing till the end if Virat Kohli from India and Narine from West Indies will open the batting, there are high chances of Rishabh Pant making his second appearance for Team India today.

West Indies: Carlos Brathwaite (c), Samuel Badree, Ronsford Beaton, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor, Chadwick Walton (wk), Kesrick Williams
