India go into this tour at the back of two consecutive Test series wins. They beat Sri Lanka in their own den and followed it up with a comprehensive win against South Africa at home. There are no major surprises in the Indian squad for this tour. The only new face is Mumbai fast bowler Shardul Thakur, who gets his national call-up after a couple of good seasons in the domestic circuit.

As far as the West Indies team goes, they have not announced their squads as yet. But wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin took to Twitter to express that he has not been picked for the series as the new Chairman of selector believes his average over the last couple of years have not been good enough. As a result he will now play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2016 for Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR). There should not be any other major surprises in the West Indies squad either, who will look to get back to winning ways in Tests.
