(Will Scotland find their way to another elusive win, or shall the hosts strike back to level terms in the series? Catch all the updates here)
We hope that the third T20I, which is scheduled to be held at the same venue two days later, does not turn out to be a damp affair such as the one that we got to witness today. Let us hope for some high-voltage cricketing action between the two sides on Sunday. Till then, good night!
After a lot of delay, the news from Bready is that the second Twenty20 International (T20I) between Ireland and Scotland has been washed out due to incessant rain! Sad news supporters from both sides, especially the Irish who would have waited eagerly for their side to claw back into the series.
Teams:
Scotland: Preston Mommsen(c), Matthew Cross(w), Alasdair Evans, Gavin Main, George Munsey, Josh Davey, Kyle Coetzer, Mark Watt, Michael Leask, Richie Berrington, Con de Lange.
Toss: Scotland (Field)
Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live cricket blog of the second T20I of the three-match series between Ireland and Scotland, at Bready. This is Rishad D’Souza, and I will be bringing you the live updates and live cricket scores of the match. PREVIEW: Ireland vs Scotland, 2nd T20I
Hosts Ireland had a dreadful start to the series, as they lost the opening game on Thursday by six wickets. It was mostly a breeze of a chase for the visitors, barring the freak over by Tyrone Kane in which he took three wickets in the first five balls of his international career!
The Ireland middle order rallied together to guide their side to a competitive score of 146 for the loss of five wickets at the end of their allotted overs. While Kevin O’Brien remains the top-scorer with a 19-ball 30 that included four boundaries and a six, Stuart Thompson and Max Sorensen’s 42-run stand too came in handy for the hosts.
Squads:
Ireland: Kevin O’Brien(c), Andrew Balbirnie, Alex Cusack, George Dockrell, Tyrone Kane, Andy McBrine, Graeme McCarter, John Mooney, Andrew Poynter, Stuart Poynter(w), Max Sorensen, Paul Stirling, Stuart Thompson, Craig Young.
Scotland: Preston Mommsen(c), Richie Berrington, Matthew Cross, Freddie Coleman, Josh Davey, Con de Lange(w), Alasdair Evans, Michael Leask, Gavin Main, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Craig Wallace, Mark Watt.
