Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of third match of ongoing Masters Champions League (MCL) Twenty20 tournament which will take place between Virgo Super Kings and Sagittarius Strikers in Dubai. The inaugural match was played between Libra Legends and Gemini Arabians which was won by Virender Sehwag’s Gemini Arabians. While Graeme Smith will be leading Virgo Super Kings, it is Daniel Vettori with the armband for the Sagittarius Strikers. His side is inclusive of the likes of Adam Gilchrist, Mahela Jaywardene, Shane Bond, and many other retired big names. The Virgo Super Kings are no less, as have players like Brett Lee, Jonty Rhodes, Dirk Nannes, Jacob Oram and many others representing them.

Shane Bond wins man of the match for his spell that reads 4-1-22-3.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Virgo Super Kings 131/9 in 20 overs | Target 158 | Gareth Batty 2(2), Malinga Bandara 1(1): In the end a very comfortable win for the Sagittarius Strikers after that brilliant performance Shane Bond produced upfront where he took three wickets. Daniel Vettori chipped in with three wickets as well. All in all it was a consolidated effort by the Strikers. Azhar Mahmood showed some fight with a fifty but could not do much. OUT! Azhar Mahmood 51(31) c Khurram Khan b Dan Vettori, OUT! Brett Lee 21(16) c Hauritz b Santokie

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Virgo Super Kings 81/7 in 15 overs | Target 158 |Azhar Mahmood 25(18), Brett Lee 1(2): Things looking rather grim for the Virgo Super Kings despite a relatively sizable partnership between Mahmood and James Foster. Even that’s been broken now by Yasir Arafat. Foster tried to break the shackles with a big hit but found the man at long on. Mahmood is now accompanied by Brett Lee at the crease and the duo have to score at over 15 RPO from the five remaining overs. OUT! James Foster 10(16) c Carberry b Arafat

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Virgo Super Kings 43/6 in 9.3 overs | Target 158 |Azhar Mahmood 0(0), James Foster 3(3): Virgo Super Kings are losing wickets in a heap. They lose two more wickets and are now in danger of getting bowled out. They require 115 more runs from here onwards from 63 balls and they have just four wickets in hand. So the match is gone for them in high probability. What they can now do is hang around for the next 5 overs without losing any wicket and then go for the target. Although, they will most probably not reach the target but this is the best bet that they have at the moment. OUT! Jacob Oram c Yasir Arafat b Hauritz 8(12), OUT! Hasan Raza c Jonathan Trott b Daniel Vettori 5(11)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Virgo Super Kings 32/4 in 6.5 overs | Target 158 | Jacob Oram 6(7), Hasan Raza 2(3): Shane Bond is bowling exceedingly well. He sends two more Virgo Super Kings batsmen back to the dugout. He got both Neil McKenzie and Owais Shah caught by Jonathan Trott for 14 and nine runs respectively. Jonty Rhodes was then trapped leg-before by former kiwi spinner and captain Daniel Vettori for one. Kings are now tottering on 32 for 4 at the end of 6.5 overs. Bond has scalped three of the four wickets that fell. OUT! Neil McKenzie c Jonathan Trott b Shane Bond 14(16), OUT! Owais Shah c Jonathan Trott b Shane Bond 9(8), OUT! Jonty Rhodes lbw Daniel Vettori 1(2)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Virgo Super Kings 18/1 in 3.4 overs | Target 158 | Neil McKenzie 14(13), Owais Shah 4(4): Virgo Super Kings are off to a slow start and they have also lost the wicket of Graeme Smith. Shane Bond got Smith caught by the wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist for a duck. Neil McKenzie and Owais Shah are taking their time to get their eye in. McKenzie has struck three while Shah has hit one boundary so far. OUT! Graeme Smith c Adam Gilchrist b Shane Bond 0(5)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Sagittarius Strikers 157/6 in 20 overs |Daniel Vettori 0(0), Yasir Arafat 2(3): Just when it was required that Jayawardene should change his batting gear, he gets out. Strikers are not able to pull off the kind of finish they would have liked considering that they batted so beautifully till the 16th over. They managed only 157 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. It is a competitive score but certainly not a match winning one. OUT! Mahela Jayawardene c Bandar b Oram 69(47), OUT!  Jonathan Trott b Lee 22(24), OUT! Phil Mustard c McKenzie b Lee 5(6), OUT! Yasir Hameed run out Azhar Mahmood 7(4)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Sagittarius Strikers 130/2 in 16 overs | Mahela Jayawardene 69(46), Jonathan Trott 14(13): Sagittarius Strikers are cruising along well with Mahela Jayawardene playing on of his best T20 innings. Strikers’ innings has reached its climax. Now, both Jayawardene and Jonathan Trott would try to play big shots and up the tempo. Strikers have plenty of batting left and with four overs to go let’s get ready for some fireworks unless Virgo Super Kings come up with some brilliant bowling performance.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Sagittarius Strikers 105/2 in 12.3 overs | Mahela Jayawardene 59(36), Jonathan Trott 2(3): Sagittarius Strikers lose their second wicket in the form of Michael Carberry for 27. He got out when the scoreboard read 96 on the third ball of the 12th over. Mahela Jayawardene is batting brilliantly, he has gone past his half century and currently has struck five boundaries and three shots which dispatched the ball for maximum. Jonathan Trott is the new man at the crease. OUT! Michael Carberry c Bandara b Gareth Betty 27(24)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Sagittarius Strikers 69/1 in 8.5 overs | Michael Carberry 18(17), Mahela Jayawardene 35(24): Mahela Jayawardene and Michael Carberry have steadied the ship after the fall of Gilchrist. Jayawarndene has already struck five boundaries and a six in his innings while Carberry has hit three shots to the fence till now. Sagittarius Strikers are going very well and if they do not lose a wicket in the next 3-4 overs, we may witness both the current batters scoring even more freely.

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Sagittarius Strikers 31/1 in 4.5 overs | Michael Carberry 1(4), Mahela Jayawardene 15(14): Adam Gilchrist is caught by Foster off the bowling of Azhar Mahmood for 113. It’s a big wicket for Virgo Super Kings. Michael Carberry has come to the middle after Gilchrist’s departure. Sagittarius are batting at a run rate of close to six. OUT! Adam Gilchrist c Foster b Azhar Mahmood 13(12)

LIVE CRICKET SCORE: Sagittarius Strikers 13/0 in 2 overs | Adam Gilchrist 2(5), Mahela Jayawardene 10(7): Sagittarius strikers are off to a slow and steady start. Former Australian batsmen Adam Gilchrist, who is widely regarded as one of the most destructive batter of all time has opened the batting with Sri Lanka’s legendary batsman Mahela Jayawardene. We may soon see a flurry of boundaries and sixes once Gilchrist and Jayawardene get going.
