Rain abandoned the fourth day’s play between New Zealand and England at Basin Reserve on Sunday, with the hosts reached 162 for two in their second essay.

New Zealand are still 49 runs from making England bat again, with middle-order batsman Kane Williamson unbeaten on 55, acccompanied byand Ross Taylor on 41.

Earlier on Day Three, New Zealand were 77 for one in their second innings at stumps on the third day of the second Test against England, 134 runs in arrears after being forced to follow on.

Peter Fulton was not out 41 with Kane Williamson on 16. Monty Panesar picked up the sole wicket of Hamish Rutherford.

New Zealand were dismissed for 254 in their first innings in reply to England’s 465.
