Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of Australia‘s tour game against the Northamptonshire. Today is Day 2 and we will bring all the updates of Day’s play here. Not a single was bowled on Day 1 due to continuous rain. Meanwhile, Australia on Friday announced that the 26-year-old Steven Smith will be taking over as the full-time captain of their Test team as well, after the end of the Ashes 2015. Michael Clarke had announced his retirement from international cricket after the Ashes in England, which Australia have already lost 3-1 to England. Smith’s first assignment as the full time captain of Australia will be on the tour of Bangladesh, wherein they will play two Tests alongside limited-overs cricket matches. Live Cricket Score | Australia 13/1 | Shaun Marsh 7 (14) OUT! David Warner has been dismissed for mere six off Maurice Chambers. And that calls for the stumps as well. Would be interesting to see how things turn out tomorrow.

OUT! David Warner c Crook b Chambers 6 (12)

Live Cricket Score | Northamptonshire 396 | Steven Crook 142(96): The Northant have been bowled out four runs short of the 400-run mark. Crook remains unbeaten on 142, but the County side have been impressive with the bat. Lets see if they can give the Australians a stiff competition with the ball as well.

OUT! Richard Gleeson lbw Pat Cummins 6(25)

Live Cricket Score | Northamptonshire 384/9 | Steven Crook 132(89), Richard Gleeson 4(10): The Northants have made a spectacular comeback in the innings, with Crook leading the way with some explosive batting. Crook has smashed 22 boundaries and four sixes in the innings so far, as the visitors are left searching for answers at the moment. Marsh and Cummins have dismissed Ben Sanderson (3) and Maurice Chambers (0) respectively.

OUT! Ben Sanderson c Steven Smith b Mitchell Marsh 3(16), Maurice Chambers b Pat Cummins 0(4)

Live Cricket Score | Northamptonshire 273/7 | Steven Crook 38 (40): Cummins manages to get the breakthrough for the tourists, dismissing George Munsey for 27 off 31 balls. He follows it up with a vicious bouncer in the very next delivery, that strikes Ben Sanderson on the helmet, causing play to stop momentarily. Can’t help but get images of the Phil Hughes tragedy, which happened in November last year.

OUT! George Munsey c Nathan Lyon b Pat Cummins 27 (42)

Earlier this week, Smith was heralded as Australia’s next captain in the One-Day International (ODI) format. Clarke had retired from 50-over cricket after the end of a successful campaign in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Australia have not played any ODI match since the final on March 29 against New Zealand. However, David Warner has been named as the new vice-captain of Australian Test team.
