Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of Day 4 of the Group B game of the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy between Odisha and Delhi, live from Bhubaneshwar. After winning the toss, Delhi elected to bat first on a track which was good for batting. Delhi openers started off on a promising note on Day 1 but kept losing wickets on a regular basis. They eventually ended their innings at 311.Suryakant Pradhan ripped apart the Delhi batsman with his alluring spell of four for 83. Basant Mohanty chipped in with couple of crucial wickets and Deepak Behera had a scalp to his name too. In reply, Odisha have reached to 4 for 195 at the stumps on Day 3. Anurag Sarangi has reached to his fourth First-Class fifty. He is leading Odisha’s charge as they look to gain first innings lead tomorrow. With rain and bad light taking away valuable time from the match, it seems highly unlikely that any result would come out on Day 4.

It would be interesting to see what Delhi skipper Gautam Gambhir’s approach on the field is. The match is evenly poised at the moment and Delhi bowlers will have a huge role to play in order to steer their team in a dominating position.

Both the teams are yet to play their second innings. Delhi bowlers would look to restrict Odisha below 311 while Odisha will fight tooth and nail to take lead and earn some points.

Live cricket scores Odisha 88/3 & 217 | Delhi 193/9 Dec & 311 | Overs 38 | Batting: A Sarangi 6(54), B Samantaray 12(58): So the match finally been called off with no possibility of any outright result. Delhi will take the honours on the basis of their first innings lead. They get three points for taking first innings lead, where as Odisha get one point. Odisha put up a much better performance in the second innings and succeeded in securing a draw. Though their first innings collapse will come to haunt them, as it deprived them of earning more points than just the solitary one they got.

Delhi’s both innings were a story of contrast. In the first innings, they played extremely slow, just around 2 runs per over. In the second innings though, they played attacking game, with the idea of winning the match. However, they’d have themselves to blame partially, as they played overtly defensive in the first innings. Also rain and bad light killed precious time in the match. Basant Mohanty’s hat-trick will remain the highlight of this match. By declaring 1 wicket short of getting bowled out, Delhi deprived the pacer from a potential 10-wicket haul in the match. He’d take a lot of confidence from here and look to do better in the next games. That’s all from here for now. Ciao!

Live cricket scores Odisha 88/3 & 217 | Delhi 193/9 Dec & 311 | Overs 38 | Batting: A Sarangi 6(54), B Samantaray 12(58): Anurag Sarangi and Biplab Samantaray have done well post-tea and have ensured that there’s no further damage. Both are being overtly defensive at the moment and are blocking anything that comes down their way. This particular phase of play has been a frustrating one for Delhi,  as they’ve sent down 16 overs for mere 15 runs. This shows just how defensive Odisha have been this afternoon. With time running out, the match is heading towards a draw.

Live cricket scores Odisha 73/3 & 217 | Delhi 193/9 Dec & 311 | Overs 22 | Batting: A Sarangi 3(14), B Samantaray 0(2): Will there be another Odisha collapse? Their opener R Dhuper has been dismissed by Subodh Bhati for 26 after a solid opening stand with Natraj Bahera. The duo added 48 runs for the first wicket. One-down Govinda Poddar didn’t last long and was removed by off-spinner Pulkit Narang for 8. With both the wickets falling in quick succession, Delhi bowlers are now pumped up and trying for a rather improbable win. Just before breaking for tea, Odisha have lost their opener Bahera too, who fell to Narang.

Live cricket scores Odisha 37/0 & 217 | Delhi 193/9 Dec & 311 | Overs 10 | Batting: N Bahera 21(32), R Dhuper 16(28): Chasing 288 to win, Odisha have started on a cautious note. The target of 288 is too much to ask on the final day and their batsmen shall be mindful of that. They’d ideally play defensive game and look to secure a draw. Delhi bowlers will have to take a leaf from the Vidarbha bowlers’ book, who dismissed Maharashtra today to complete a famous win. Delhi would primarily be banking on their pacer Pradeep Sangwan, who got seven wickets in the first innings.

Live cricket scores Delhi 193/9 Dec & 311 | Odisha 217 | Overs 31.3 | Batting: Manan Sharma 6(9): Delhi lost wickets at heaps after returning back from lunch. The wickets kept tumbling as their batsmen went for scoring quick runs. The highlight of the session was Odisha pacer Basant Mohanty’s hat-trick. The pacer rattled the Delhi batting line-up with his five-wicket haul. The three victims of his hat-trick effort include Punit Bisht, Subodh Bhati and Pulkit Narang. His hat-trick came on the first three balls of the 30th over of the Delhi innings. He first got Bisht caught by Rajesh Dhuper for 5. The next delivery cleaned-up Bhati’s stumps while the hat-trick delivery caught Narang right in front of the stumps. Delhi finally declared the innings at 9 for 193 and set Odisha a target of 288 runs.

Live cricket scores Delhi 150/1 & 311 | Odisha 217 | Overs 22 | Batting: Dhruv Shorey 55(62), Nitish Rana 41(29): What a tremendous start Delhi have got to their second innings! The same team which scored runs at just over 2 runs per over in the first innings, have gone hammer and tongs so far, scoring at close to 7 runs per over. Even though they’ve lost their skipper Gautam Gambhir for a quickfire 41-ball 54, an innings that had nine boundaries in it, they’ve managed to keep the momentum going. Opener Dhruv Shore has reached to his half-century while Nitish Rana is unbeaten on 29-ball 41.

Live cricket scores Delhi 57/0 & 311 | Odisha 217 | Overs 9 | Batting: Dhruv Shorey 20(27), Gautam Gambhir 38(30): Delhi have started their innings in a blazing way. Skipper Gautam Gambhir, who was overtly defensive in the first innings, has got off to a tremendous start. He’s playing on 30-ball 38, a knock that has seen seven boundaries so far. Giving him great company is Dhruv Shorey, who’s playing on 20.

Live cricket scores Odisha 217 | Overs 75.5 | Batting: Basant Mohanty 3(4): Odisha had the worst possible start on Day 4. Starting the day at 4 for 195, they should’ve been looking at crossing Delhi’s 311. But Delhi pacer Pradeep Sangwan wrecked hevoc and ended with the figures of 7 for 38. As a result, Odisha were bundled out for a mere 217, adding just 22 runs. A hapless Odisha had no answer to Sangwan’s deliveries as they lost their last six wickets just for 22 runs and losing out on a great opportunity for gaining first innings lead.
