Good Evening! Hello and Welcome to Cricket Country’s live coverage of match No. 2 of the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017. The match will see Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators locking horns. While the former was the bottom-lying team, the latter ended up as runners-up in the first edition. Qalandars will be led by newly appointed captain Sarfraz Ahmed, who is now the captain of Pakistan cricket team as well. Gladiators, on the other hand, will be marshaled by former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum. However, the first match of the tournament was between Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi. Speaking of Gladiators, they in their side have Pakistan’s brightest talents such as Ahmed Shahzad, Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Nawaz, Umar Gul and Zulfibar Babar. Shafiq’s show in the inaugural season of PSL saw him get a nod in the national ODI team. Amongst the other international recruits, they have Mahmudullah, Tymal Mills, Thisara Perera, Kevin Pietersen and Luke Wright. All eyes will be on Mills, after his excellent show for England in the recently concluded T20I series versus India.
McCullum, under his wings, will have an array of international superstars such as Grant Elliott, James Franklin, Jason Roy, Sunil Narine and Cameron Delport. Meanwhile, Azhar Ali, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Rizwan, Sohail Tanvir, Umar Akmal and Yasir Shah form the crux of the Pakistani talent. As a matter of fact, Akmal was the highest run-scorer in the 2016 edition. Narine and Shah will form a lethal pair in conditions that favour spin bowling in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
