Pakistan have reached the score of 262 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the first One-Day International (ODI) match against Bangladesh at Mirpur on Sunday.

Earlier, winning the toss, Bangladesh had opted to bowl first. But the Pakistani openers Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed put on a 135-run partnership which set the tone for Pakistan to establish a big score.

Pakistani middle-order failed to provide any substantial partnership. Younis Khan departed after scoring just 12 runs. Captain Misbah-ul Haq was also dismissed cheaply for 8 runs as he was clean bowled by spinner Abdur Razzaq.

All-rounder Shahid Afridi did not trouble the scorers as he was caught and bowled by Shakib al Hasan off the first ball he faced.

But pacer Shahadat Hossain had different plans as he successfully pierced through the Pakistani top order which included the opener Hafeez who departed for 89 runs.

But the bowlers let the Pakistani tail wag and allow them to reach a modest total at the end of 50 overs. Shahadat Hossain was the best bowler for Bangladesh with figures of 3 wickets conceding 53 runs.

Brief Score: Pakistan 262 for 8 in 50 overs (Mohammad Hafeez 89, Nasir Jamshed 54, Umar Gul 39; Shahadat Hossain 3 for 53) vs Bangladesh
