Pakistan won the first ODI, thanks to a masterful century by Mohammad Hafeez (122), aided by Sohaib Maqsood (73) and Sharjeel Khan (61). They set a target of 323 for Sri Lanka in the second innings, but Angelo Mathews’s men fell short of Pakistan’s total by 11 runs, as they were bowled out for 311 in 49.4 overs..
Pakistan, who lie sixth in the one-day rankings, two places lower than Sri Lanka, will hope that they can build on their success in the first ODI.
