Unpredictable Pakistan, who restricted Sri Lanka to a total below 200, needs to score 189 to win.
Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene had won the toss and elected to bat first in the crucial tie against Pakistan on Thursday.
Compared to Pakistan’s previous match against Bangladesh, the bowling was impressive against the runners-up of 2011 World Cup and CB Series.
Aizaz Cheema, Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul struck at regular intervals to keep Sir Lankan batsmen under pressure.
Sri Lanka seem to head towards a respectable total when Kumar Sangakkara and Upul Tharanga were on the crease. However, Tharanga was bowled after he reached his half-century and later on Sangakkara also got dismissed.
Pakistan has a long batting order to boast off and they have the destructive Shahid Afridi, who can snatch a game but, like his team, is not consistent enough.
