Live cricket score: PAK 131/3 | Overs 18.4 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 50(46), Shoaib Malik 63(49): Akmal brings in his fifty and Malik seals the deal with his winning boundary! The duo first survived the scare, and then launched a brutal assault on the UAE bowlers to win it for their country and register the first points. In the process, Akmal also became the fourth highest all-time scorer in the T20Is. The duo added over hundred runs and took their team comfortably to a win. Pakistan now have to face hosts Bangladesh and Sri Lanka; two tough games. Having lost all three games, UAE are now left with their tie against India. They will go home feeling proud of themselves as they will have happy memories of the qualifiers round they won. Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik gets the Man-of-the-Match award for his unbeaten half-century. That’s all from here! See you all tomorrow when the two heavyweights India and Sri Lanka clash.

Live cricket score: PAK 126/3 | Overs 18 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 49(44), Shoaib Malik 59(47): That’s all! Malik and Akmal almost finish it in this over. The worst things for UAE is that the carnage happens in the over when it was least expected to happen. Akmal takes on the UAE skipper Javed, who had a wonderful game so far, and hammers him for two sixes and a four off the first three balls. Malik rubs salt to the wound by hitting a huge six over deep-midwicket off the last ball. The game is all but over. One would feel for the UAE captain; scored runs, took wickets and gave everything into the game. Yet UAE’s effort fell short, by one dropped catch or by being one bowler short. Just four needed now off 12.

Live cricket score: PAK 103/3 | Overs 17 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 32(40), Shoaib Malik 53(45): Malik has reached to his fifty! What a time to get back in form. With crucial matches to follow in the tournament and also the ICC World T20, he is peaking just at the right time. On the other hand, Akmal too has played a coming-of-age knock so far. He has been the rock of this partnership with his sensible innings. His knock shows what Pakistan had been missing so far. 27 needed from 18 now.

Live cricket score: PAK 91/3 | Overs 16 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 31(37), Shoaib Malik 42(42): Oh boy! Usman Mushtaq, what have you done? UAE need a wicket, Malik gives them a chance and Mushtaq drops a sitter off Shahzad’s bowling. He probably dropped the match. Seven come from the over and more importantly, the match is getting out of UAE’s reach. If they don’t take a wicket here, the match will be soon but over.

Live cricket score: PAK 84/3 | Overs 15 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 30(35), Shoaib Malik 36(38): Pakistan score 11 and nine from the 14th and the 15th over bowled by Naveed and Tariq respectively. Both the overs saw a six each. The first one, hit by Akmal, was a treat to watch. It was also the first six of Pakistan’s campaign in this tournament. The next over saw Malik break free and hit a massive six off Tariq’s bowling. After adding 20 runs in last two overs, Pakistan have come back strongly in the game. Both the batsmen are set now and their partnership has gone well past sixty now.

Live cricket score: PAK 64/3 | Overs 13 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 23(31), Shoaib Malik 23(30): Five runs from the 13th over bowled by Mustafa. 66 now needed from seven overs. Both these batsmen can be extremely dangerous towards the end. It is high time UAE break through this partnership, if they have to have any chance in the game. Meanwhile, here’s an interesting stat coming in on Mohammad Aamer.

Mohammad Amir now shares the world record of bowling most (21) dot balls in a T20I,with Chris Mpofu (Zim) & Mudassar Bukhari (Net)#PakvsUAE

Live cricket score: PAK 59/3 | Overs 12 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 20(28), Shoaib Malik 21(27): Fahad Tariq gets introduced now into the attack as the match progresses towards the business end. The required rate has gone past nine and Pakistan need to accelerate big time. Akmal takes charge in the over and hits one over the mid-off fielder. The shot hits the boundary rope and after some consultations, it is declared as a four. Eight come from the over, but more are required.

Live cricket score: PAK 51/3 | Overs 11 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 13(23), Shoaib Malik 20(26): It is time for Rohan Mustafa’s off breaks. He starts off well, giving away just three runs from the over. The asking rate is shooting up and somebody needs to control it. In the meantime, in a good news for Pakistan, Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of the remainder of the Asia Cup due to a side strain. Remember Pakistan are yet to play the hosts and the lanky left-armer could have been a huge threat.

Live cricket score: PAK 48/3 | Overs 10 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 11(20), Shoaib Malik 19(13): It is half way stage and Pakistan have managed just 48 runs for the loss of three wickets here. Shahzad bowled a good over till the last ball, where he drifted a bit from his line knowing the fine leg fielder was inside the circle, the mistake he made cost him and his side four runs. Malik is too good to miss out on such freebies. Seven from the over; Pakistan are 48 for 3.

Live cricket score: PAK 41/3 | Overs 9 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 10(19), Shoaib Malik 13(18): Raza continues and the second ball of his over is dispatched for a boundary by rusty Malik, who has no trouble in sending the flat ball bowled outside the off-stump towards the backward point boundary. Pakistan add two more runs in the over. Six runs come of it over all. Pakistan need to keep an eye on the asking rate, which is climbing up with every over.

Live cricket score: PAK 35/3 | Overs 8 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 9(18), Shoaib Malik 8(13): Shahzad returns to the attack and delivers a decent over. He does not give s single run of the first four deliveries, after being aided by some brilliant fielding by Rohan Mustafa. Two runs each are scored of last two balls, and even in a tight over, Pakistan manage to squeeze in four runs. But either one of Akmal or Malik will have to take their chances now.

Live cricket score: PAK 31/3 | Overs 7 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 5(12), Shoaib Malik 8(13): Introduction of spin! Ahmed Raza is introduced. The tall left-arm spinner can be more than handy if he can extract some bounce off the surface. He fails to control the flow of runs as both Malik and Akmal take five from the over. Some signs that they are breaking free now.

Live cricket score: PAK 26/3 | Overs 6 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 2(8), Shoaib Malik 6(11): Pakistan needed one over to break through the shackles, and is this the over? Eight runs have come off the first five balls bowled by in-form Javed, including a wide. Come on Javed, you can’t let the steam evaporate. Malik hit a beautiful four in the over, and that was the highlight. Powerplay overs come to an end and Pakistan manage 26 runs during the period.

Live cricket score: PAK 18/3 | Overs 5 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 1(6), Shoaib Malik 0(7): Shahzad replaces Naveed and keeps the pressure going. UAE are not giving anything away at the moment. Just a single run came from the over as both Akmal and Malik are playing cautiously after the early loss. Things will only be difficult at the other end as Javed has been brilliant.

Mohammad Shahzad replaces Naveed.

Live cricket score: PAK 17/3 | Overs 4 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Umar Akmal 0(2), Shoaib Malik 0(5): OUT! The Professor goes! What’s happening here? Javed forces Hafeez to drive with a fullish delivery, only to reach to Tariq’s hands at the covers. This is some madness from Pakistani batsmen. They must look to save wickets upfront and see off the new ball. As cliched as it may sound, Javed is on fire! He has so far pocketed eight wickets from three games and is perfectly playing the leader’s part. The experienced Shoaib Malik joins Akmal now.

OUT! Mohammad Hafeez c Tariq b Javed 11(12)

Live cricket score: PAK 16/2 | Overs 3 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Mohammad Hafeez 11(11), Umar Akmal 0(2): Naveed’s first two deliveries are right on target but he misses the third one by a whisker. It is bowled at Hafeez’s pads and is drifting towards leg. Professor has no issues dispatching it towards the mid-wicket boundary. He then blocks the remaining two deliveries. UAE need more from Naveed. If he can get one here, UAE will completely be on top.

Live cricket score: PAK 11/2 | Overs 2 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Mohammad Hafeez 6(6), Umar Akmal 0(2): UAE skipper Amjad Javed now has the ball in his hand. He has done exceptionally well with the bat, can he repeat his performance with the ball? Yes, he does, with his TWIN STRIKES!! The second ball goes for a boundary but the third one comes in sharply and traps the PSL centurion Sharjeel in front of the stumps. Pakistan go one down. Khurram Manzoor replaces him us stays only for two balls and leaves without troubling the scorers. Umar Akmal now joins Hafeez and the match is certainly on.

OUT! Sharjeel Khan lbw b Javed 4(3), Khurram Manzoor c Patil b Javed 0(2)

Live cricket score: PAK 7/0 | Over 1 | TARGET 130 | BATTING: Mohammad Hafeez 6(6), Sharjeel Khan 0(0): Mohammad Naveed, who has been brilliant with the new ball for UAE opens the attack. ‘Professor’ Hafeez and Pakistan’s new sensation Sharjeel Khan are out in the middle. Naveed bowls tight lines in the first five balls, giving just two runs in it, and then sends one down the leg side for a wide. The last ball sees a straight drive from Hafeez race towards boundary. He plays out the over in which Pakistan score seven.

Pakistan openers are out in the middle. We’re starting with the proceedings.

READ THE INNINGS REPORT HERE:

INNINGS BREAK:

Live cricket score: UAE 129/6 | Overs 20 | BATTING: Amjad Javed 27(18), Mohammad Naveed 10(5): Though a six and a four come off Sami’s and innings’ last over, UAE would not have wanted to end their innings with three dot balls. Though they would have happily taken the total had it been offered in the beginning, they still have 130 to defend, which offers their bowlers some cushion. Going by the way matches have shaped in the tournament, it does not look that bad a total. They scored 89 off their last 10 overs and would want to believe they have ended quite strongly. The match is set to get interesting and we will be back shortly with Pakistan’s reply.

Live cricket score: UAE 118/6 | Overs 19 | BATTING: Amjad Javed 26(17), Mohammad Naveed 0(0): So a little cameo from Usman comes to end. He was good but Aamer has been at his best today. His last over sees just a boundary being scored and the wicket of Usman on the final delivery. Aamer’s figures 4-1-6-2 are now the second joint best in T2oIs. UAE need a good last over which takes them past 130, which will set-up a good match.

OUT! Muhammad Usman b Aamer 21(17)

Live cricket score: UAE 114/5 | Overs 18 | BATTING: Muhammad Usman 17(11), Amjad Javed 26(17): WOHOOO!
UAE skipper adding some useful runs lower down the order. He smacks a couple of meaty blows off the monster Irfan’s bowling. The first six comes while trying to pull a short delivery that sails over the fine leg boundary. The next, a more controlled shot, races over the long-off boundary. 13 runs come off the over and UAE reach 114/5 after 18 0vers.

Live cricket score: UAE 101/5 | Overs 17 | BATTING: Muhammad Usman 16(10), Amjad Javed 14(12): Aamer returns to the attack. He’s bowled brilliantly so far, giving just two from his two overs besides picking up a wicket. He starts off with a bouncer and follows it up with a swinging yorker. The pace has remained constant throughout, and that has made him more difficult to deal with. He continues to bowl short without giving any room and ends a brilliant over which conceded just a single run. His spell so far reads 3-1-2-1. What a follow-up performance after that fiery spell against India.

Live cricket score: UAE 100/5 | Overs 16 | BATTING: Muhammad Usman 15(8), Amjad Javed 14(8): Sami is back into the attack and replaces the ‘Selfie-Stick’ Irfan. However, the runs do not seem to dry, as another couple of boundaries come off Sami’s pace. UAE have reached 100 and another 30-40 runs in the last four overs will set this game up nicely. Both the teams are predominantly reliant on their bowling and if UAE can add those vital runs and repeat their effort against the Sri Lanka, we have a game on!

Live cricket score: UAE 90/5 | Overs 15  | BATTING: Muhammad Usman 14(7), Amjad Javed 5(3): UAE are undeterred by the fall of wickets, as 14 vital runs come off the 15th over. Afridi rather surprisingly gave the ball to Shoaib Malik, who went for the runs. Four came from the first four and till then it looked like a good over. But last two balls were hit for a six and a boundary by Usman. These are crucial runs towards the end of the innings.

Live cricket score: UAE 76/5 | Overs 14  | BATTING: Muhammad Usman 2(2), Amjad Javed 4(2): The giant strikes again! An eventful Irfan over sees the end of Anwar, who was becoming a threat for Pakistan. An opportunity was created on the third ball, when he pulled one hard in the air, only to survive as it landed safely between the long-on and mid-on. But finally, the luck deserted Anwar as he was caught behind the very next ball. UAE have half their team back in the hut.

OUT! Shaiman Anwar c Sarfraz b Irfan 46(42)

Live cricket score: UAE 70/4 | Overs 13  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 44(38), Muhammad Usman 2(2): Afridi’s last over costs Pakistan 17 runs. This is some batting by Anwar, who smashes three back-to-back boundaries. He is showing his performances at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 last year was not a fluke. His team needs him to stay till the end.

Live cricket score: UAE 53/4 | Overs 12 | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 29(33), Muhammad Usman 1(1): Anwar is changing the gears now! A six of the first ball which was swept hard, followed by a boundary. Easily the best and the most experienced batsman in the side, Anwar is living up to his role. Smacks 12 runs in the over and brings in some kind of momentum.

Live cricket score: UAE 41/4 | Overs 11  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 18(28), Muhammad Usman 0(0): Afridi gets his first wicket. It was a soft dismissal, as Mushtaq, who tried to sweep down the leg side, top-edged the delivery which went in the air and became an easy catch for Nawaz at short-fine leg. UAE lose their fourth.

OUT! Muhammad Usman! c Nawaz b Afridi 9(19)

Live cricket score: UAE 40/3 | Overs 10  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 17(25), Usman Mushtaq 9(16): Four runs come off Nawaz’s second over as UAE reach to the half-way stage in their innings. They need to accelerate now, or the game will be soon over even before they realize.

Live cricket score: UAE 36/3 | Overs 9  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 15(23), Usman Mushtaq 7(12):Afridi bowls a tight over. Just three comes of his over, two of them being wide. The captain bringing all his experience to the table. With spin operating from both ends, Pakistan are completing their overs pretty quickly.

Live cricket score: UAE 33/3 | Overs 8  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 15(18), Usman Mushtaq 6(11): The debutant Nawaz is given the ball now, so it is spin from both ends. He played for the Quetta Gladiatiors in the PSL and did exceedingly well for his side. His first over is full of nerves; gives a wide and concedes the first six of the match. Anwar hits the fifth delivery hard and just manages to clear Shoaib Malik at long-off. 10 come from the youngster’s first over.

Live cricket score: UAE 23/3 | Overs 7  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 7(15), Usman Mushtaq 5(8): It is Boom-Boom time now. Pakistani skipper introduces himself into the attack. First signs of spin and it will be interesting to see how the pitch behaves. Afridi did not bowl at all against India, so he must be itching to have a go. His first over sees three runs being scored.

Afridi comes into the attack!

Live cricket score: UAE 20/3 | Overs 6  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 5(11), Usman Mushtaq 4(6): Irfan continues to trouble with his bounce. Man he generates some serious bounce. 7-foot-tall and add his arm’s length while releasing the delivery, and he throws them down from a height of 10-feet. Usman uses the bounce and send the fifth ball well over the first slip for a boundary. Powerplay comes to an end.

Live cricket score: UAE 16/3 | Overs 5  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 5(11), Usman Mushtaq 0(0): Not so eventful over by Sami, who sends the first delivery way down the leg side and just when it looks an obvious wide, Anwar manages to flick and guide it for the boundary. The remaining balls are dots, dealt somehow by Anwar.

Live cricket score: UAE 12/3 | Overs 4  | BATTING: Shaiman Anwar 1(5), Usman Mushtaq 0(0): So a wicket falls in the third consecutive over! The giant replaces Sami and gets another wicket for his team. Irfan’s eventful over sees an exquisite cover drive, a wide down the leg side followed by a wicket. Shahzad is beaten by the bounce of the delivery that shapes away from him. It kisses his bat and lands safely in the gloves of Sarfraz Ahmed. UAE in all sorts of trouble now.

OUT! Mohammad Shahzad c Sarfraz b Irfan 5(3)

The seven-footer Mohammad Irfan is introduced into the attack!

Live cricket score: UAE 5/2 | Overs 3  | BATTING: Mohammad Shahzad 0(0), Shaiman Anwar 0(2): Another one down!
Aamer bowls three dot balls to Kaleem from over-the-wicket and then changes the angle, comes round-the-wicket and gets him immediately. The big in-swing is back and Kaleem’s lazy approach only adds to his problems as he loses his stumps. Shaiman Anwar walks in and gets the same treatment from Aamer — two balls from two different angles. He survives.

OUT! Muhammad Kaleem b Aamer 1(11)

Live cricket score: UAE 5/1 | Overs 2  | BATTING: Muhammad Kaleem 1(7), Mohammad Shahzad 0(0): Sami shouts for an lbw appeal against Mustafa on the first ball of his over, but the ball is going down the leg side. A quick single is taken which is followed by a wide down the leg side. Sami struggling to adjust lines to the left-hand-right-hand opening combination here, and that shows as he again send one down the leg side. But quickly adjusts his line seeing Mustafa come down the track and bangs one short. Mustafa has no option but to hit that towards skipper Shahid Afridi at mid-on. UAE lose their first wicket.

OUT! Rohan Mustafa c Afridi b Sami 1(5)

Mohammad Sami comes into the attack.

Live cricket score: UAE 1/0 | Over 1  | BATTING: Rohan Mustafa 1(2), Muhammad Kaleem 0(4): Mohammad Aamer starts the proceedings after the successful game against India. Rohan Mustafa gets to the other end with a quck single of the next ball. The focus gets back to Aamer as the right-handed Muhammad Kaleem takes guard. Will he swing it back the way he did against Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane? The answer is no, as he bowls the remaining balls outside the off stump.

Nawaz gets his Pakistan cap during a brief team meeting. UAE openers walk out in the middle as the action is about to start.

Toss: UAE win the toss and elect to bat first!

Mohammad Nawaz, the star of PSL, gets his first game in place of Wahab Riaz, who had a bad day at office against India.

Teams:

UAE: Rohan Mustafa, Muhammad Kaleem, Mohammad Shahzad, Shaiman Anwar, Muhammad Usman, Swapnil Patil (wk), Amjad Javed (c), Fahad Tariq, Ahmed Raza, Usman Mushtaq, Mohammad Naveed.

Pakistan: Mohammad Hafeez, Sharjeel Khan, Khurram Manzoor, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Shahid Afridi (c), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Sami, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Irfan.

On the other hand, UAE have played two matches so far and lost both. They went down in a close tie to Sri Lanka by 14 runs and were later beaten comprehensively by the hosts Bangladesh. On Monday, both the teams will be desperate to get their opening win of the tournament. While Pakistan are yet to face Sri Lanka and Bangladesh after this game, for UAE it is going to be a do-or-die moment, as a win here will keep them alive while a loss will send them packing.

With the game being held in Mirpur and Bangladesh not a part of it, the crowd turnout will not be huge. However, a decent crowd is expected to come in to cheer for Pakistan, who will come hard at UAE after loss against India. At the same time, it would be unwise to write UAE off as they have shown enough promise and spark so far. Pakistan batting will be aware of their threat and must play strong competitive cricket against the minnows to come out on the top. Pakistan vs UAE, Asia Cup T20 2016, Match 6 at Dhaka, Preview.
