FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Pakistan vs West Indies, second ODI at Sharjah

Pakistan, starting with the England series, have shown great form. They have started to play as a team, backing up for a player if he fails to perform. The top-order looks more settled than ever, with players performing consistently. Pakistan did well in Tests and the one-off Twenty20 International in England but the ODI series there was no less than a horrific experience. On a contrary, the players have started off well in the ongoing ODI series, winning the series opener. This is their fourth consecutive victory in the tour as they won the T20I series 3-0 before this. Pakistan will be extremely confident now after their performance so far and will look to carry on with the domination they have currently.

West Indies on the other hand have failed to play up to the expectations. The current T20I world champions lost all the three matches in the format and the fight was not impressive at all. While the bowlers failed to do anything mentionable, it was the batting that was the most disappointing. A few performances by Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Bravo were there but those were not enough to make up for the poor show by their team.

Walking in to the ODI series, while the bowling has improved, the batting still needs a lot of help. The team has failed to perform as a unit and kept losing wickets in regular intervals. They failed to build any crucial partnership that can contribute with runs. In most cases the bowlers did not have enough runs to defend. The conditions also did not suit the West Indies players while UAE being Pakistan’s home away from home, it has favoured the team due to the experience they have of playing here.
