Rajasthan have reached a total of 249 for the loss of five wickets at stumps on Day 1 of the Round 5 encounter of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 edition against Odisha. Rajasthan have played well in the game as SF Khan and Chetan Bist have looked good and remained unbeaten at the end of the day. Odisha won the toss and elected to field first on a surface which looked conducive for bowling and their bowlers did well to chip early wickets as each one of them had a wicket each to their name. Their batsmen got decent starts but failed to convert it into a big score. Amitkumar Gautam fell early Deepak Behera got the better of him early on in the innings.

On the Day One of the clash between Mumbai and Railways, Mumbai have finished at 244 for the loss of five wickets against Railways in the Round 5 of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 which is being played at the SDNRW Ground, Mysore. Winning the toss Mumbai decided to bat first but had a disappointing start as their opener Kaustubh Pawar fell cheaply. By the time Mumbai had lost their first wicket they only had 17 runs on the board. But another opener Akhil Herwadkar and Shreyas Iyer who had walked in at No. 3 together went on to score 113 runs partnership for the second wicket.

Services got to a good start against Andhra on Day One as they play in Round 5 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Playing at Holkar Stadium, Indore, Services won the toss and elected to bat first. Anshul Gupta and Soumik Chatterjee opened the innings for Services but the partnership did not last for long. Chatterjee departed soon with an individual score of 12, which brought Ravi Chauhan at the crease. Chauhan followed Chatterjee for a duck as Services lost wickets off consecutive deliveries. It was not until Shamsher Yadav came out to play that Gupta found a partner to build a partnership. In ther other contest between Kerala and Haryana, winning the toss, Kerala have held Haryana for the score of 228 for the loss of 8 wickets at Stumps on Day One of the Round 5 of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 match which is being played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rohit Sharma is unbeaten on 51 from 135 deliveries having scored 7 boundaries. Sandeep Warrier has been the most successful bowler for Kerala as he scalped 4 wickets giving away 59 runs. Vinod Kumar has been the second best bowler for Kerala as he has finished with the figures of 3 for 37.

Day One of the clash between Goa and Chhattisgarh was called off due to persistent rains in the Round 5 of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Goa opted to field first after winning the toss were rewarded quickly as Chhattisgarh opener Abhishek Singh was dismissed for zero with only 5 runs on the board. The second wicket saw a partnership of 76 runs between Amandeep Khare and Sahil Gupta. Khare was involved in a terrible mix-up and was, unfortunately, run-out on the individual score of 29 runs from 101 deliveries. But soon later, it started raining and the match had to be called off well before lunch.
