Good Morning, शुभ प्रभात! Hello and Welcome to CricketCountry’s live blog session of Day Four of the ongoing semi-final of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17. The matches are being held between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Jharkhand at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, and Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur respectively. I am Paulami Chakraborty, and I will be bringing to you the live updates from Wednesday’s action. Another interesting day of the semi-final as Mumbai’s Aditya Tare played a captain’s knock and Shardul Thakur helped build the lead with his fifty. Meanwhile, it was Jharkhand’s day out with Ishank Jaggi’s century keeping them ahead. Jaggi built crucial partnerships with Rahul Shukla and Kaushal Singh. Veteran RP Singh ran through the Jharkhand batting line-up with a six-wicket haul. Jharkhand’s innings ended at 408 and built comfortable lead of 182. Gujarat were off to shaky start in their second innings as they lost their ace batsman Priyank Panchal soon and were found stuttering at 100 for 4. As for the Mumbai and Tamil Nadu match, Vijay Shankar was the only one to grab maximum wickets ending the day with figures of 4 for 59. Mumbai with score of 405 built lead of 101, with another two days left on hand.
Mumbai saw some excellent batting display from Abhishek Nayar as well who got to his fifty while Tare ended his innings at 83. Mumbai have task on hand on Day Four as their bowlers Thakur as well as Nayar will have to restrict Tamil Nadu soon to keep them on their toes.
