Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of the fourth day’s play of the Ranji Trophy Final 2017-18 between Delhi  and Vidarbha at Holkar Stadium, Indore. The summit clash has seen Vidarbha storm ahead of Delhi, and are on the verge of lifting their maiden title. In reply to Delhi’s 295, Vidarbha are 528 for 7 at stumps on Day Three. With a lead of 233 runs, Vidarbha would look to end proceedings and rewrite history in the penultimate day itself.

The third day’s play resumed with Vidarbha 209 for 4, trailing by 89 runs. Delhi started on the right note, and restricted Vidarbha to 246 for 6 quickly. The big fish — Wasim Jaffer — departed for 78 and put Delhi ahead. Nonetheless, what followed was total carnage. Vidarbha’s lower order got together and amassed 322 runs in the entire day. Delhi bowlers were kept at bay with only three wickets to fall. Akshay Wadkar and Aditya Sarwate added 169 runs for the seventh wicket, and Wadkar continued Vidarbha’s dominance courtesy an unbeaten stand with Siddesh Neral (56*). In addition, Wadkar slammed his maiden First-Class century, and has ensured Vidarbha a match-winning position.

Day Four looks set to add more miseries to the Delhi camp. Their shoulders have already dropped, and will need a spirited effort to inject some fight in the (now one-sided) contest.
