Hello and welcome to Cricket Country’s live coverage of the fourth ODI between South Africa and Sri Lanka at Cape Town. I am Pramod Ananth and I will provide you with live updates from this match. It has been a one-way traffic so far in the ODI series. South Africa clinched the series at Johannesburg 3-0 in a match disrupted by a swarm of bees. This way, the hosts continued their good run in ‘pink’ matches.
After a 0-3 whitewash in the Test series, Sri Lanka came back strong in the T20Is against a new-look and an inexperienced South African side, clinching the series 2-1. However, once the big guns returned to the fold for South Africa, things changed for Sri Lanka and they struggled to match up with South Africa’s prowess. With AB de Villiers back at the helm, South Africa have won all the three games and what has hurt Sri Lanka most is the fact that they are missing their best player and regular captain Angelo Mathews. The track at the picturesque Newlands is expected to be batting friendly. South Africa might play Chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi in this contest meanwhile Sri Lanka do not have enough options to try out. They will hope that Niroshan Dickwella continues to fire while star batsman Dinesh Chandimal returns to form. Chandimal has been disappointing on this tour. As a senior player, he needs to stand up to ensure Sri Lanka do not slump further to 0-4. Meanwhile, South Africa will hope to finish another whitewash.
Squads:
South Africa: AB de Villiers (c), Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock (wk), JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Chris Morris, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi
