India put up yet another strong display of batting as they scored 155 runs against Sri Lanka in the one-off T20 International at Pallekele.
India came into the match at the back of a thumping 4-1 victory over the hosts in the One-Day International series.
Virat Kohli’s knock of 68 runs included 11 fours and one six.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene put India to bat.
Sri Lanka got off to a good start as they got Gautam Gambhir out for six runs in the second over of the match.
However, Virat Kohli stitched a valuable partnership of 74 runs from 59 balls with Ajinkya Rahane for the second wicket to put India in command. Jeevan Mendis dismissed Rahane for 21 to put breaks to the Indian innings.
Nonetheless, Suresh Raina carried on from where Rahane left in the company of Kohli and added 48 runs in 30 balls for third wicket. Raina scored 34 runs from 25 balls.
Shaminda Eranga, playing his debut match for Sri Lanka, accounted for the crucial wickets of Gambhir and Kohli.
Brief Scores: India 155 for 3 in 20 overs (Virat Kohli 68, Suresh Raina 34* ; Shaminda Eranga 2 for 30) vs Sri Lanka
