1345 IST update: The play has been abandoned for the day. It was inevitable, let’s hope we have good weather for the coming days. Now that it is a four day game. The follow-on mark becomes 150. Let’s hope for a game at least.
1315 IST update: The decision time is near. Play unlikely today.
Inspection @ 1.45 to determine whether there could be play at all for today. My hunch is NO! lets see.

1200 IST update: The rain has started again. The players are taking Lunch. The tweet from Roshan Abeysinghe which came before the rain started to fall again, is not inspiring either.
Not sure about having play today at all. Taking the covers off with so much of water on it, is a challenge by itself. Need strong sun shine.

1130 IST update: The rains have forced a longer delay and will have an inspection at 1400 IST! Stay tuned and fingers crossed that we get some play today. Early Lunch will be taken.
1030 IST update: Further wait as the rains have stopped but there is no work done since more is on the way and it is very gloomy and overcast.
0930 IST update: As we expected the rains have not relented one bit and the Toss has been delayed to persistent rain. Stay tuned for further updates.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the first day’s play of the first of the three-Test series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at Galle on Wednesday. Sri Lanka are playing at home after a long time and with no cricket behind them, they will wish to rub off the dust and get going right away. Kumar Sangakkara will again be expected to do well against Pakistan; a nation he averages 80.25 against with ten Test tons. Pakistan are into a rebuilding sort of phase with them dropping the magician as they call him, Saeed Ajmal. Although Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah are good prospects but it remains to be seen how they go about their business. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan will be expected to lead them with the bat.
