So far Gujarat is placed at No. 2 in the Group B table behind the dominant Mumbai, while Tamil Nadu is placed at No. 6. Gujarat has won three of their six games, lost one and drawn two. Tamil Nadu have won two, lost one and drawn three. If Tamil Nadu manage to sneak in a win against Gujarat it will definitely help them a lot on the points table. In their previous game, Tamil Nadu were involved in a draw with Uttar Pradesh. Thy failed to secure a first innings lead and could not even gain the three points as a result. Their points tally is lingering at a modest 17 from six games. Meanwhile Gujarat bettered their cause on the points table in the previous game by taking a commanding win of about 153 runs over Madhya Pradesh. They will take the confidence into the game against the inconsistent Tamil Nadu. Gujarat’s point tally is currently 22 points, four behind Mumbai.
The big positive for Gujarat is that Priyank Panchal and Parthiv Patel have been in excellent form with the bat, both scoring at averages of over 50 in this tournament. For Tamil Nadu, their batting has been inconsistent but the bowling has benefited from the consistency of Rahil Shah who has picked 22 wickets in the series at an average of 16.31. For Gujarat Rujul Bhatt and Jaspreet Bumrah have done well with the ball taking 20 and 19 wickets respectively.
