Jammu & Kashmir spearhead Ram Dayal struck twice, with the new ball and in the 42nd over, but if they want to seal the all-important first-innings lead, he would need support from his teammates, especially Parvez Rasool. Jammu & Kashmir lost Rasool (130 in 195 balls, 18 fours, 3 sixes) after they added a mere 15 on Day Two. The seamers continued to strike, and from 318 for 4 Jammu & Kashmir slid to 352 for 8. Bandeep Singh, not out at stumps on Day One, stood amidst ruins, and finally found support from Umar Nazir (36 in 54 balls, 6 fours). The pair added a quick 76 in a mere 97 balls to take Jammu & Kashmir beyond the 400-mark. Bandeep (63 in 132 balls, 6 fours) was the last to be dismissed. The three medium-pacers, Manisankar Murasingh, Rana Dutta, and Abhijit Sarkar, claimed three wickets apiece.

Tripura lost Arindam Das early, but Rajib (34 not out in 131 balls, 2 fours) and Udiyan Bose (40 in 114 balls, 7 fours) added a patient 79 at less than 2 an over before the latter fell.
